At today’s unveiling of the redesigned Maxima, Nissan division general manager Al Castignetti said the next-generation, U.S.-bound Cube will arrive at this November’s Los Angeles auto show. The Scion xB-fighter will come as a 2010 model with a gasoline engine; no hybrid or plug-in electric version, like the Denki Cube concept on display at Nissan’s stand in New York, has yet been specified. Castignetti did say, however, that Nissan plans to have an electric vehicle commercially available by 2012.
The current Cube’s styling out-boxes the xB — even the wheels have a cube-ish design — and we’d expect the next one to not stray far from this formula. Castignetti said he expects the car to cost something near the Versa sedan, whose 2008 prices run from $12,710 to $15,460. Provided the Cube boasts an ample list of standard features, it could prove quite a bargain compared to the $15,650 xB. More photos of the Denki Cube below.
