Porsche Doubles (Non-Turbo) AWD 911 Lineup With New 4S Models

Recently, Porsche 911 Carrera buyers wanting all-wheel drive have faced a significant hurdle: AWD was only available on the GTS, the $200,000-plus Turbo and the even pricier Turbo S. While the newly hybridized GTS enjoys 532 horsepower, it’s also saddled with a base price over $170,000. Now, with the introduction of the 2026 911 Carrera 4S coupe, 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet and 911 Targa 4S, Porsche is dropping the price of entry for an AWD 911 by thousands of dollars.

Like the S, But With a 4

Other than the AWD system, the 2026 911 Carrera 4S family is identical to the rear-wheel-drive S models. They’re powered by a 473-hp, twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter flat-six-cylinder engine with 390 pounds-feet of torque. As with all other current 911s aside from the T and GT3, an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission is standard. Porsche says the 4S coupe will accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.1 seconds with launch control and the optional Sport Chrono Package on its way to a top speed of 191 mph.

Like the regular 911 Carrera S lineup, the new 4S models ride on staggered wheels measuring 20 inches up front and 21 in the rear. A sport exhaust, 16.1-inch front and 15-inch rear brakes from the previous-generation 911 Carrera GTS are also standard. Rear-wheel steering is standard on the Targa, but it’s optional on the 4S coupe and convertible. Carbon-ceramic brakes and an adaptive sport suspension that lowers the ride height by nearly 0.4 inch are also available. As with other current 911s, the coupe can be had either as a two-seater or with a backseat for no extra cost; the Cabriolet and Targa include a rear seat as standard equipment.

Availability and Pricing

Porsche says that, historically, AWD models account for about half of all 911 Carrera S sales. The 2026 911 4S models are available to order now, with deliveries to start in the fourth quarter of this year. Pricing has yet to be finalized and will be announced at a later date.
