Reader Review of the Week: 2007 Chevy Silverado

We also had to add a review from “Car Obsessed” in Orange County, Calif., talking about his new 2007 Jaguar XKR. Sorry, we just couldn’t let that one slip by. Their full reviews are below.

“I had an ‘05 W/T before this and am extremely happy that I upgraded to the ‘07 LT extended cab. Overall, I feel that this is the best thing that Chevy could have done to the Silverado. It stands out in a crowd (How many people have I seen on the road checking the vehicle out as I drove by?) and has features that are great to have, and some that most other trucks don’t.
The styling isn’t for everyone, but if you are looking for a vehicle that is unique and enjoyable to drive, this is definitely it.
There are a few small items that I have to say are (small) negatives. The extended cab back area is a mite bit smaller than the ‘05, the steering is a little stiffer, and there is a little bit of a pause when first pushing the gas pedal (unless you stomp it).
But, all of the positives that I’ve found with this truck far outweigh those minor items. I love the MP3-playing radio, and the fact that there is practically no wind noise or road noise while driving is awesome. Cool thing, too, is that I’m actually getting a little better gas mileage in this than the ‘05 W/T, and I actually went from a 4.3 V-6 to the 4.8 V-8! I was surprised by that.
Also, the rear window defroster is nice, and I love that you can now have power roll-down access door windows that go all the way down.”

“I just received an XKR, and I’m loving it already. With its great looks, abundance of newfound power from an unobtrusive supercharger and excellent interior, I am fully satisfied. I am always receiving great compliments wherever I go, just as many as with my Cadillac XLR, which I am also completely satisfied with.
The car is extremely fast due to a newly added supercharger, which is hardly noticeable. The ride is firmer, but even with the 20″ wheels it is decently cushy and still makes a great daily driver. The interior is fantastic, with good materials and fit and finish. The seats are also extremely comfortable and supportive, a nice combination of the two.
The backseats are meant for throwing extra bags or purses when there is a passenger, but can accommodate one smaller person if necessary. The backseats also create more room for the front passengers, an irritation with the Cadillac. I am 6 foot 1 and have plenty of room to spare. Unlike its German competitors, the Jag has a welcomed touch-screen. Even though it is a little slow, it is highly appreciated.
The only problem with the Jag that I found was its history of being plagued with glitches. I had even heard from neighbors about their problems. However I bought the car anyway and have yet to experience any problems whatsoever.”
