Recall Alert: 2012-2014 Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, 4500 and 5500

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 1 million model-year 2012-2014 Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks and model-year 2012-2014 Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 Ram chassis cab work trucks

The Problem: Affected vehicles have a steering-wheel wiring harness that can rub against a spring and wear through the outer loom. If wiring is exposed it may cause a short circuit to occur and lead to inadvertent driver-side airbag deployment. The condition may be signaled by an air-bag warning light in vehicles equipped with an electronic vehicle information center. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is aware of two injuries related to this issue but no accidents.

The Fix: Dealers will inspect the steering column and wiring harness and repair them free of charge.
