The affected vehicles have manual transmissions and were manufactured from July 2, 2011, through Feb. 27, 2012 (check your vehicle’s build date on a sticker on the driver-side doorjamb). In these cars, moisture and road grime could corrode the parking brake’s components, causing it to fail. This could lead to a crash.
Hyundai will notify owners starting in January, and dealers will fix the affected parts for free. Owners can call Hyundai at 800-633-5151or NHTSA’s vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236 for more info.
