This morning GM announced that it has hired a company to systematically shut down the Saab brand and all of its holdings in Sweden. But that doesn’t mean Saab still won’t be sold to another company.
“GM also confirmed that it has received several proposals for Saab and is continuing to evaluate these proposals. This evaluation is not affected by the appointment of AlixPartners.”
AlixPartners is the company hired for the Saab wind-down. GM says that hiring such a company is standard operating procedure in Sweden.
UPDATE: The board of Saab Auto in Sweden has decided to liquidate the company despite GM’s earlier statement. We’re unsure on how the board can take such action apart from GM.
