So You Want to Put Car Seats in Your 2019 Ford F-150 ...

Go for it. Ford’s F-150 is a capable, competent work truck, but in crew-cab form it’s also no slouch when it comes to family duty — which is also a lot of work, albeit in a different way. In our Car Seat Check, we installed our test child safety seats in the 2019 F-150 Raptor SuperCrew (crew cab), which accommodated three across with room to spare. Our test seats are an infant, a booster and a convertible in both forward and rear modes.

Overall, the F-150 performed well in our test thanks to ample space and accessible lower Latch anchors; its tether anchors were tricky, however. We ran into problems when installing our forward-facing convertible car seat because of the F-150’s top tether anchor placement. It’s actually a loop and not an anchor and required a trip to the glove box for the owner’s manual to figure out. When installing a forward-facing car seat, a tether strap or anchor must be used to secure the top of the car seat.

While the Raptor trim is the extreme off-road version, this Car Seat Check applies to all F-150 SuperCrew versions as they will have ample room and accessible lower Latch anchors. Top tether anchor placement may change, however, so check your owner’s manual for your configuration.
