CARS.COM — Subaru is adding new trim levels to its Outback wagon and Legacy sedan for 2017. A new top-of-the-line Touring model joins the Outback lineup with standard automatic braking in Reverse and automatic high-beam headlights. A Sport trim with specific exterior and interior styling details is new for the Legacy sedan.
The new Outback Touring model will slot above the current flagship model, the Limited, and will be available with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder or 3.6-liter six-cylinder engine. Standard features will include 18-inch wheels, a dark gray grille, chrome exterior trim, heated steering wheel, woodgrain interior trim and piano-black accents, a navigation system with a 7-inch screen, a three-year satellite radio and traffic service subscription, and the Starlink Safety Plus emergency communications system.

Reverse automatic braking is a new feature that uses four sonar sensors in the rear bumper to automatically stop the vehicle to avoid collisions. The automatic high-beam system dims the headlights when it detects an oncoming vehicle. Both features have been added to the EyeSight Driver Assist Technology Package that will be standard on the Outback Touring.

Reverse automatic braking and high-beam assist will be available on the Sport as part of the extra-cost EyeSight Driver Assist Technology Package.
Prices will be announced later in May; the 2017 Outback Touring and Legacy Sport are scheduled to go on sale in early July.
