CARS.COM — Subaru has revealed sedan and hatchback concepts that hint at the brand’s future Impreza compact car, and at the 2016 Geneva International Motor Show in Switzerland it debuted the XV Concept that gives a peek at the next Crosstrek (the Crosstrek is known as the XV overseas). The Crosstrek is an off-road-themed version of the Impreza that has more ground clearance, like a crossover, and different styling cues.

The XV Concept differs from the Impreza five-door concept in much the same ways as the current 2016 Crosstrek differs from the 2016 Impreza. The XV Concept has a raised stance, cladding on the wheel arches, and different front and rear bumpers. It also adds orange accents on various exterior elements. The XV Concept is longer, wider and lower than the current Crosstrek, and its 105-inch wheelbase is slightly longer.

Subaru has a history of producing sleek-looking concepts that give way to ordinary production cars. Odds are that that’s going to happen again with the next-generation of the Impreza and Crosstrek, but it would be nice if it didn’t as the various Impreza concepts and the XV Concept are quite sporty looking.
