Take a Walk on the Inside: 2019 Ram 1500 Interiors

The redesigned 2019 Ram 1500 has already arrived in crew- and Quad-Cab configurations. It launched just a few months ago with the carryover 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 and eight-speed automatic transmission; however, the new base powertrain is a mild-hybrid system called eTorque with a 3.6-liter V-6. Higher trim levels will get the Hemi standard, with an optional eTorque Hemi as well.

While the 2019 Ram 1500 grew, Ram managed to shave some weight and increase payload and towing capabilities over the outgoing model. The previous-generation Ram 1500 (code named DT) will be built concurrently with the new 2019; that model will be called the Classic.

Ram interiors have been highly regarded for their thoughtful design, quality materials and high functionality. And just in case you haven't heard, the new 2019 interiors more than live up to that reputation, as we recently found out. We had a chance to look over four different 2019 Ram 1500 pickups in different trim dress, in a side-by-side comparison, and thought you might want to see how they differ. Prices below include destination.

Big Value

Big Horn Sport Crew Cab 4×4: base, $41,895; as equipped, $51,710

The Big Horn starts as a cloth interior truck offered in just two ways. The example pictured here has the Level 2 Equipment Group for upgraded interior features; however, it's part of the Customer Preferred Package 25Z, which has several other items that elevate the price significantly. Level 2 includes the 8.4-inch center touchscreen and the 7-inch color display in the gauge cluster. Both screens look nice and have matching graphics and fonts, and offer a ton of engine and vehicle data calculations. This truck has bucket seats and a front bench is available. The driver's seat is power and both front seats are heated, as is the steering wheel. Also added are dual-zone climate controls, front and rear 115-volt outlets, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Big Sport

Rebel Quad Cab 4×4: base, $44,688; as equipped, $53,102*

The adventure-themed Rebel gets sporty vinyl-and-cloth upholstery patterned to match the tire treads. The red-and-black theme is carried to the accent pieces on the instrument panel, console and doors. The displays have a smoked appearance to further differentiate the look. Its base trim is a step fancier, with a stitched steering wheel, 5-inch display screen and satellite radio. This example has a similar Level 2 Equipment Group within a larger option package to augment interior equipment including the 8.4-inch touchscreen, enhanced cellphone connectivity, and heated front seats and steering wheel.

Big Volume

Laramie Crew Cab 4×4: base, $46,035; as equipped, $57,035*

More luxurious Laramie interiors come with heated and ventilated leather-faced bench seats in front. This truck has optional front buckets, an upgraded console and 8-degree reclining rear seats. Seven- and 8.4-inch screens are standard, and the 12-inch center screen is optional. This is the all-black interior choice with suede inserts. Wood trim can be replaced with a monochromatic trim package. Extra touches include a stitched dash pad and ambient lighting at night.

Big Luxury

Laramie Longhorn Crew Cab 4×4: base, $53,695; as equipped, $66,935

Heading toward the upper end of trim levels (the Limited is still higher), the Laramie Longhorn returns with its cowboy-styled interior. It features full leather front and rear seats as well as leather on the dash and door panels. Detailing is even more over-the-top than before, with finely tooled satin chrome accents and real barn wood trim with a branded logo on the glove box. The 12-inch touchscreen is included in the $3,400 Level 1 Equipment Group, which also includes a 19-speaker Harman Kardon stereo, upgraded navigation, wireless charging, ventilated rear seats and power running boards.
