The Mercedes-AMG GLE43 Is Magic

CARS.COM — My windshield wipers are never as diligent as I’d like them to be and my windshield never as clean. From October through May, Colorado’s sapphire skies often turn gray and stormy and throw down precipitation to taunt me. I work my wipers senseless and go through tons of wiper fluid. Gallons. The fluid flies all over my windshield, temporarily blurring my vision and providing fleeting moments of fear when I can’t see the road.

The 2017 Mercedes-AMG GLE43 and its Magic Vision Control system offers a solution. This car came to me with a Brilliant Blue Metallic exterior, a cerulean metaphor for the clarity I was about to experience. The “magic” is that with this system, the windshield is always perfectly clean and there is no disrupting the driver’s vision with any messy splashes of water

But how? Rather than those two small nozzles underneath each wiper blade that toss fluid onto your windshield with wild abandon, Magic Vision Control blades have a series of tiny, laser-cut holes along each blade that spray water right in front of each wiper as it wipes — in other words, the spraying and the wiping are one, thereby clearing the path for lucid vision, even in the thick of a storm. The system is also heated, virtually disintegrating any ice, snow or sleet that comes your way. Nothing but blue skies ahead!

As if that wasn’t enough, Mercedes-Benz says this system should reduce wiper fluid consumption by up to 50 percent, so you’ll save some green — which is great, since this feature will run you an extra $350. Totally worth it, as clear, brilliant blue will be yours, both on the car and in your field of view.
