CARS.COM — Luxury SUV shoppers will have an updated Lexus NX to check out later this year. Lexus announced that a refreshed NX, the Toyota luxury division’s small SUV that slots below the RX, will debut at the 2017 Shanghai auto show in mid-April. A U.S. version will follow, but don’t expect to see it at an American auto show. It likely will appear at dealerships this fall as a 2018 model, spokeswoman Nancy Hubbell told us.
The NX has been around since the 2015 model year and comes in NX 200t and NX 300h variants with turbocharged and hybrid four-cylinder drivetrains, respectively. Lexus promises “an updated exterior design” plus “interior enhancements that add convenience and functionality,” and its teaser image shows a deconstructed front-quarter section with what appears to be a more-intricate, triple-LED headlight.
Still, Hubbell characterized the 2018 changes as modest overall. “I wouldn’t say it’s groundbreaking,” she said.
Stay tuned for more; Lexus’ press conference at Auto Shanghai 2017 is April 19.
