Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’ Uconnect touch-screen system will get a host of updates for 2016, including better graphics, faster menus, a reconfigurable menu bar and Apple’s Siri Eyes Free integration.

It comes six months after FCA debuted an upgraded Uconnect Access system with a number of device-to-car features you can use from your computer or smartphone. The 2016 updates center around the 8.4-inch touch-screen and come on Uconnect-equipped versions of 2016 Chrysler 200 and 300; Dodge Challenger, Charger, Durango and Viper; Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee; and Ram 1500, heavy-duty and chassis-cab models.

Here’s what’s in store:

  • Drag-and-drop: Often-used apps or controls from Pandora to the seat heaters can be dropped into Uconnect’s lower menu bar with a new drag-and-drop feature.
  • Do not disturb: You can set up a “Do Not Disturb” function to block incoming calls and text messages. It can send a custom text response that’s written beforehand.
  • Rewind to song beginnings: SiriusXM Satellite Radio’s new Tune Start feature allows you to restart a given song from the beginning whenever you switch between station presets. That means Classic Rewind fans will never have to wonder again where Bryan Adams got his first real six-string.
  • Siri: Uconnect will integrate Apple’s Siri Eyes Free, which enables drivers with an iPhone 4S or newer to access Apple’s personal assistant by pressing a steering-wheel button.

FCA also touts upgraded Uconnect software to improve the system’s menu speed, voice-recognition accuracy, navigation route calculations and sound quality during Bluetooth calls.

The 2016 Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger and Challenger will also integrate a new Vehicle User Guide into the Uconnect system, which includes an owner’s manual tied to the individual car.
