Freedom Edition Pays Homage to Military

Jeep is making light changes to the Gladiator for the 2023 model year. An all-new Freedom special edition pays homage to the U.S. military and adds a special Oscar Mike badge to the rear tailgate and an American flag decal on the side. LED headlights and foglights are also standard, and steel front and rear bumpers can be outfitted with winches to enhance capability out on the trail. Steel rock rails help protect the Freedom from any errant rocks, and the interior gets leather-adorned cloth seats.

Enhancing capability also serves as the dominant theme in the High Altitude’s all-new Capability Package. As the name implies, this package equips the High Altitude with a steel front bumper and rock rails, and a front-mounted camera gives owners a real time view of any obstacles that are in front of the vehicle.

Meanwhile, the Willys trim gets standard keyless entry and remote start, while the Snazzleberry hue gets replaced with High Velocity yellow in the color lineup.

Pricing

Pricing for the 2023 Jeep Gladiator, which is equipped with a standard 285-horsepower, 3.6-liter V-6 engine paired to a six-speed manual transmission, starts at $40,570 (all prices include destination); an eight-speed automatic is optional. For some trims, an optional 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 that’s good for 260 hp and 442 pounds-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic is available. Rubicon and Mojave variants both start at $52,790 but are designed for different terrain, with the latter being meant for high-speed desert running. Starting prices for the full lineup is as follows:

  • Willys Sport: $42,880

  • Freedom: $49,265
  • Rubicon: $52,790
  • Mojave: $52,790

The diesel engine allows the Gladiator to get an EPA-rated 24 mpg combined, while the gas 3.6-liter comes in lower at 19 mpg combined.
