Many, many SUVs have hidden storage compartments below the cargo floor, and many cars that have a spare tire stashed under a removable cover in the trunk also have trays that are good for stashing small things. Even vehicles that don’t have hidden cargo trays may have enough space around the spare tire for carrying essentials or hiding valuables in a pinch.
Chrysler, though, has taken the concept of hidden storage further than most. Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans equipped with the Stow ‘n Go captain’s chairs include a pair of under-floor cargo bins that are available for storage when the seats are up. The Dodge Dart sedan and Journey SUV have cubbies below the flip-up cushions for the front passenger seat. In addition, the Journey has two under-floor bins in the second row and another covered bin below the cargo floor. On five-passenger models, the bin is expansive, covering most of the area below the cargo floor.
The 2014 Kia Sorento without the optional third row and 2013 Hyundai Sante Fe Sport also have generous under-floor storage areas in the cargo area.
