Best experience at a used car lot

I've been shopping around for a Toyota truck. I went to a two dealerships before and was not satisfied with the tactics and scams the others were trying to sell me. I found one I liked at Millennium and scheduled a test drive. Car was good, price as well, and the sales guy wasn't pushy and gave me space to inspect the car. Before I got there, I did some reading on forums on what to look for that particular model, and liked what I saw. At the end of the day, no car buying experience will be good, but this one was one of the better ones I've had. Would recommend

Would not recommend!

My overall experience was low. I could go on about the different things that should have probably kept me from buying a car from them. Unless you live close and are willing to go back to have problems fixed, I wouldn't buy from them. Their service dept is a few blocks away with no waiting room. They did try to help when I had issues but everything was bring the car back when these things should have been done before I picked up the car. But the icing on the cake was when I found a battery from 2005 in my 2017 Ford Expedition. They tried to make excuses and in the end sent me a reimbursement of $40 for a battery that cost me far more than that. Shady businessmen in my opinion!

Stay far away

I went there on 11-09-18 to take a look at a 2017 VW Passat I saw on Auto Trader. Even to get in to their parking lot I had to cross sheets of ice which they couldn't be bothered to salt. Upon entering the building seemed ran down with exposed wiring which had been installed by someone who didn't know what they were doing, and secured to the wall with tape. I had to wait around for 15 minutes for a sales man to finally meet with me. I told him I was interested in seeing the CarFax for the car, but they refused to do so until after the test drive and we negotiated a price. Once we went out to their lot to test drive the car, it was blocked in because they couldn't bother to get a porter to move the car even though I had called earlier in the day telling them I was interested in it. When the sales man started the engine I noticed a loud ticking noise coming from the engine, likely indicative of a problem with the valves. They took me back to their building and had me sit in an office with a camera in it for about half an hour while they tried to get the car out of their lot. Finally once I was able to test drive the car I noticed it was missing an interior bezel, and the low gas light was on. The test drive was limited to less than a mile, and they did not let me try to drive it on the highway. From speaking with the sales man in the car they said this was normal for them and that they are sometimes worried if it will even make it back to the lot. Upon completing this laughably short test drive, I hooked up a OBD 2 scan tool to the cars diagnostic connector to check for problems. It alerted me that the check engine light was last cleared a few hundred miles ago. I walked around the car and even in the dim light I could tell there was body damage to it, where part of the bumper had been gouged out and there were numerous scratches they didn't bother to touch up. The brake rotors were also rusty and might have required replacement. All of this seemed unusual for a car which was probably a year and a half old. We went back in to their office and they presented me with an invoice and still refused to show me the Car Fax for the car. Upon inspecting the invoice there were a number of highly questionable line items. For instance a $600 charge for "OTHER". The salesman Patrick was completely incapable of explaining what this charge was for, other than to just gouge me. I told him that I didn't require plates or registration and that I would be transferring the plates from my old car. He told me then the "registration" and "license plate" fees would be dropped to $190 even though the secretary of state only charges $25. And there were numerous other questionable fees as well. Finally after negotiating and agreeing to a price, they finally show me a Car Fax report for this car, which showed it had not only been a rental that god knows how many people abused, but that it had a salvage and rebuilt title indicating it had been in a severe accident. The owner explained to be that he had bought it at auction and repaired it in his shop. He went on to brag about how cheaply he could repair cars, for instance he could get all the brake pads and rotors replaced for $150. God only knows what kind of highly used and salvage parts he would be putting on this car. The cheapest parts from AutoZone, a company known for having the cheapest Chinese parts anywhere, would cost $324! Needless to say I walked away after they wasted more than 2 hours of my time trying to rip me off. The experience I had at Millennium Auto did nothing but confirm for me that used car salesmen are morbidly obese con artists who are incapable of getting real sales jobs.
