I went into Fairbanks Chevy dealership after an engine
I went into Fairbanks Chevy dealership after an engine light appeared on the dash. There were no available park spaces in the dealership so I had to park in one of the isles. The service women appeared tired and unfriendly and never smiled. She was reluctant to analyze my onboard truck computer until I asked to speak with the service manager. When she did, she left out the code explanation and said she would not provide the code explanation which I quickly obtained off goggles search. The dealership stated that it would cost $300 to analyze/diagnose the truck problem on top of the cost of the repair and that that it could take days before they could repair the vehicle. The service manager knew I was a physician and needed to get back home to care for patients. Fairbanks Chevy dealership runs it’s service department so there is no wiggle room in their service schedule for situations like mine. Having owned Chevy trucks for decades and having had to visit countless other Chevy dealerships on road trips where I needed urgent service Fairbanks Chevy Dealership ranks the lowest out of all Chevy dealerships I have visited for willingness to accommodate a Chevy family member in need for service. As a physician I count on my Chevy vehicle to be reliable and long lasting as it is. As a member of the Chevy vehicle family I rely and expect a Chevy service departments to accommodate my service needs in a reasonable period of time. Fairbanks Chevy service ranks bottom of the barrel when it comes to accommodating customer service needs. The service women was unfriendly. The service manager acted like he had no control over his ability to accommodate my needs. He was not reassuring. A thoughtful service does not manage like that. I took my chances and drove 4,500 miles home through some of Canada’s most remote territory. My local Chevy dealer’s service women greeted me warmly and showed a genuine interest in my truck’s service issue. There was no talk about charging me $300 to “diagnose” my vehicle’s service problem. Just professional, friendly and competent service without the price gouge of a $300 diagnosis. Do not use Fairbanks Chevy unless you want to be treated poorly and be over charged and have a delayed service repair.
