They put our family at risk — and refused to take responsibility. We purchased a 2018 Nissan Titan XD from H & K Chevrolet of Archbold in December 2024. The very first time we drove the truck after delivery, the check engine light came on with a P0300 code. Over the following months, the issue persisted despite visits to multiple certified Nissan dealerships and trusted mechanics, diagnostic testing, and costly repairs. Eventually, we were told the truck needed a full engine replacement—after it left us stranded on the side of the road with our three small children. A certified Nissan dealership later pulled the national service history and discovered the engine codes had been cleared prior to our purchase. H & K Chevrolet never fixed the issue—they simply did a basic oil change and sold us a failing vehicle, hoping we wouldn’t notice. When we pushed for help—clearly aware that they had sold us a vehicle with a known issue—their sales representative informed us that the General Manager, Logan DeTray, was willing to offer $500 toward diagnostics related to the check engine light. That amount barely covered a fraction of what we had already paid out of pocket and did nothing to resolve the underlying problem. Despite repeated assurances that they would “make it right,” they failed to do so. To date, we’ve spent over $10,000 trying to make this right. Logan, the General Manager, refuses to speak with us directly. Additionally, we discovered a nearly identical complaint filed with the BBB in June 2024, and there are multiple public reviews on Facebook, Google, and CARFAX (dated November 2022, April 2023, and March 2024) describing the same check engine light problems and unresolved mechanical issues. This demonstrates a pattern of negligence or possible misrepresentation, not a one-time mistake. We’ve filed a formal complaint with the Ohio Attorney General, but the damage has already been done—financially, emotionally, and to our trust. Think twice before buying here. Ask for a full inspection report (which we did and they danced around), and don’t be fooled by a quick sale or polished promises. They knew. They sold it anyway. And they walked away.

Incredibly unprofessional
The initial phone call to a salesman (whose name will go unmemtioned) went well. He was helpful and willing to answer any questions I had about the vehicle. I explained to him that the drive was quite far, but I was interested in the vehicle... Upon arrival, the car was not clean (coffee mug in the front seat, shoe marks on the back seats) because the owner had been driving it. Also, instead of 17,000 miles on the car that the ad had a picture of, the car had 22,900 miles on it! When questioned the salesman said "well we have to drive something" and claimed that it didn't justify coming down in price. The final straw was when a Carfax was requested, the response was "if you buy it, I'll give you one. But it's $25." The whole visit was incredibly unprofessional and lacking. Will not go back.

I made the mistake of reading and believing what's on internet. I went and looked at this truck fearing the salesman pressure, I figured if they did this, I would spend my money somewhere else. I honestly checked the truck for at least 20minutes, I finally went to office for keys. Silverado was all the truck I wanted. I delt with the salesman I delt with over computer (Chris), I highly recommend. This was the best place l ever visited, easy transaction, communications, I want public to know this truly is a great establishment, Christy Motors (Chris) whom I bought Silverado from, thank you.

Good deal, but lacking service
We set out on an hour trip to visit this dealer based on a car we found on cars.com. I will say before we went, we did call and speak to a salesman. He was a nice guy, and nice when we met him in person too. We found no problems with the vehicle, it was what we expected based on the sales info. Here are the problems we did run into though. When we arrived, it was automatically assumed we were buying. While I appreciate not having a sale shoved at me, I did expect some sales pitch. The car had 6,000 miles more than advertised, so someone was using it pretty heavy between listing and selling. The atmosphere in the dealer was uncomfortable. We were paying "cash" no credit needed, but we were there for 2 hours. I have no idea what took so long, no excuses were offered, except that they didn't know how to figure out of state taxes. When we left the dealer, our first stop had to be a gas station because whoever drove those 6,000 miles didn't bother putting any gas back in the tank. While we still feel we probably got a good deal on a good car, we also feel a bit mistreated and doubt we would use this dealer again or recommend them to others.
