My experience was definitely mixed. I found the car I was looking for about 5 hours away and had it shipped to my Oxnard store. I tracked the car every day and awaited my call/text to come in for a test drive. I never got a notification so I called and was given an appointment the day after the car was scheduled to arrive. I showed up for my appointment, was greeted warmly by Fiona, the salesperson, and then the problems began. Fiona excused herself and brought over Anthony the manager. Anthony, without apologizing, said the car was released to another person. I explained that it was reserved for me. He said it wasn’t and that they had tried to contact me twice. Because I did not respond the car was released. He pointed to the cashier and aggressively told me to go get my refund for the shipping I had paid for. I argued with him and told him that didn’t make sense. I had the car shipped, which should have held it for 5 days, I had an appointment to come in and drive it, there was no way it should be gone. He swiveled his screen to show me where they had tried to text me. They had the wrong number, and underneath the text it said that the number they were texting was not in service, and that they should try to e-mail I asked why they didn’t e-mail me. Anthony spun the screen around and read the information. Still no apology. Then, he told me the car was actually not sold, it was out on a 24hr test drive. I said great, bring it back. Again, Anthony said that the person on the test drive would have first choice to buy the car. Still, no apology. Just to clarify, I ordered a car, paid to have it shipped, made an appointment to come and buy it, and when I showed up it was given out to someone else for a test drive. Fiona was great throughout. Anthony, never apologized. My wife and I called corporate and were greeted by a stunned response. They apologized immediately and got to work resolving the situation. They asked for the resolution I was hoping for. I simply wanted to option to buy the car I had reserved and shipped, or a similar car. Of course, there were none available. After an hour on the phone, they also told me they could do nothing. It was infuriating. I had given up, until my wife called headquarters again. She explained the situation, was greeted with the same incredulity, but this time it worked. We were told the car had been returned and was available for us to drive the following day. I can only speculate that some employee or friend of an employee at CarMax thought it would be fun to joyride the car for 24hours. They probably assumed that since the texts didn’t go through, they’d be clear to do so. Mistakes can happen, but this could have been handled so much better. Just apologize and try to make it right instead growing surly and trying to blame the customer. I ended up buying the car anyway, Fiona was great, the subsequent purchasing process was seamless. I was glad to be able to purchase a warranty. I would recommend CarMax again, but I wanted to put my experience in writing so that they hopefully don’t try to pull something like this again.

No haggle process is a blessing and a curse.
No haggle process is a blessing and a curse. My car was marked with the incorrect trim. Took days for them to get back to me with the correct information. And some how the price was not effected with a lack of all the additional features

Christian assisted with the purchase of my daughter’s
Christian assisted with the purchase of my daughter’s first car. He had the patience of a saint with a few hiccups (on our part). He was a pleasure to work with and we felt no pressure at any time. We appreciate how Carmax sells cars and this is our family’s third purchase from Carmax. I highly recommend Carmax and I highly recommend Christian.

Salesperson did a good job.
Salesperson did a good job. The Carmax software kinda sucked. Multiple systems didn’t talk to each other and some data was asked multiple times - for the same system. Not efficient.

The dealership was close to home, was able to accommodate
The dealership was close to home, was able to accommodate the transfer of the vehicle I received, and was very helpful with the purchase process. There are a few things that I didn't like such as being told I could refund the GAP insurance from my previous purchase and just needed to wait in the lobby but it's been a few weeks and still haven't heard hearing anything back from them regarding if I was able to refund it or not. I waited in the lobby for 2 hours essentially for no reason while my car purchase was already complete and was sitting in the way of other cars coming and going through the garage. Another thing I didn't like was not being told about one of the key fobs missing the actual key part and realizing it on my own later that night, same day of the purchase. Last thing I didn't like is not being told about the connection between one of the lights and the nose of the car being slightly ajar and having to push it back into place every few days. Other than that, Dang was very genuine with his service and very helpful with his insight. I could tell he cared about me being a happy client and that he is passionate with his job.

It's a new experience for me to actually enjoy a used car buying process. You seem to have it down pretty well. My sales associate, Christian, insured my comfort and understanding throughout the entire process, creating something I've never felt before as a used car buyer... trust. I will definitely recommend CarMax to friends and family in the future (in fact, I already have!).

After driving the car a few days, and having it checked
After driving the car a few days, and having it checked out by my personal auto mechanic, a number of issues were discovered that I felt needed to be reported to Carmax for correction. I first discovered the drivers side front tire had a slow leak. I learned from my mechanic's inspection the front brakes were approximately 90% worn. Additionally, the engine air and cabin filters were dirty, which I had replaced. I also found the passenger side head light was full on condensation. Lastly, when adjusting the interior rearview mirror for the test drive, it came off. I reinstalled it, but later discovered plastic trim around the mirror attach point was missing. All these items were brought to the attention of my sales person, who referred me to your service department. In short, over a 2 week period, (with Thanksgivng in between), all the above issues were corrected by Carmax (including 4 new tires, new brakes & rotors). A loner vehicle was provided at no cost to me during that time. I am happy with repairs & corrections made to the vehicle, and enjoyed working with your service adviser, Philip Younan, who represented your service department well. Mr Younan provided continuous updates during repairs and reimbursed my out of pocket costs (air filters).

This was my second eperience buying a car from Car.
This was my second eperience buying a car from Car.max. My first experience was a dream and I expected the same this time. It didn't happen. I bought a Buick. When I drove the car it was really nice. When I parked it in my garage it leaked a river of something on the garage floor. I returned the car to your service dept. They said the problem was fixed so I took the car home. It leaked again, so I returned that car and bought another A newer model. I need to return this one to your service d ept. for an explanation of some functions, such as how to raise the back lift door. I could not match the instruction book to the model I h ave. Wish me luck. Thanks

When I picked up the mini JCW clubman I was pleased
When I picked up the mini JCW clubman I was pleased overall, but noticed that one molding was damaged on the hood and one molding was missing on the passengers front door opening. I was promised these moldings would be taken care of immediately… That they would be ordered, and it was no problem whatsoever.… They would take care of it. I’m now at six weeks owning the car and I still don’t have my moldings. I keep getting told that they will return my phone calls and emails, but nobody has done so.
