Straightforward, honest tradesman

Purchasing this car from Derek at Flywheel was truly the best experience I've ever had in car shopping. I usually feel a bit stressed when car shopping and am prepared to be taken advantage of. Prior to actually talking to or visiting any dealers, I prayed, and wrote in my prayer journal "Oh Lord, how I pray that You would lead us to a good deal, a car that's reliable, that he (our son) likes, that would be safe and would be a good price. I know this is material & worldly, but it's part of life and I just hate the stress that comes from shopping. Lord, would You lead us to an honest dealer? We want to pay a fair price for a good car." I share that prayer because God answered my prayers so specifically in leading us to an honest dealer as well as a good car at a fair price. From the moment I began asking him questions about the car, Derek told me every thing he knew that might make us not want the car. As he put it, when buying a used car, of course it's not going to be perfect, as much as he wants it to be and tries to fix everything he can--the important thing is for us to know everything and then decide if we can live with those things--if we still want the car. We had actually talked to several other dealers, who seemed more interested in making a sale than in our best interests, which was why we decided we wanted to do business with Derek. And we actually looked at the same make and model vehicle from a dealership in another city to the one we purchased from him that was a year older, had a thousand more miles, and they wanted $3000 more for it. On top of that, the one thing Derek told me he was concerned about were the tires, which he said would need to be replaced soon. I'd asked if he'd take some off for the cost of new tires, and he said he would. Because we had a two hour drive home at night, I expressed concern and asked about where I might get new tires after I bought the car. He said he'd get that information and have it for me by the time i arrived. I was surprised when I showed up and he had already taken the car to have new tires put on, though he had no guarantee that we would actually buy the car. He also gave us a copy of the movie Flywheel. I was so impressed with the way Derek runs his business and expect to do business with him again and have already told friends about the great experience.

As a former real estate agent, I learned the term for this level of service. It is referred to as having a "fiduciary responsibility to your client".
