🚨 WARNING: Deceptive Sales Practices at Cape Cod Carz
🚨 WARNING: Deceptive Sales Practices at Cape Cod Carz 🚨 DO NOT buy from Richard Gravena or Cape Cod Carz without extreme caution. If you’re considering a purchase, get the vehicle inspected by an independent mechanic before signing anything—I wish I had. I purchased a Toyota Tundra remotely based on Richard’s verbal and written assurances that it was in “like new” condition, rust-free, and had no issues. His exact words in a text: “dead new.” Reality? A Nightmare. As soon as I received the truck, I took it to a Toyota service center, and their inspection revealed the truth Richard failed to disclose: 🚨 Over $8,000 in immediate repairs—NOT including a cracked frame. ✔ Structural failure—Toyota confirmed the frame would fail within 3 years. ✔ Patch-welded truck bed—a clear sign of previous severe damage. ✔ Rust issues—despite Richard’s claim that there was “none.” ✔ Battery was dead and the wrong size for the vehicle. ✔ Undisclosed rocker panel repairs and a full undercoat—likely concealing even more rust. Richard’s Response? Instead of making things right, he cussed me out and hung up the phone. He insisted Toyota was wrong—despite their written repair estimate and expert inspection. Cape Cod Carz misrepresented this vehicle and left me with a financial disaster. Buyers beware—this dealership will not stand behind their sales. Expect a Response from Richard Trying to Dodge Responsibility If history repeats itself, Richard will likely respond to this review, twisting facts to avoid accountability. He may try to: ❌ Claim I had “unrealistic expectations”—Despite his own words calling the truck “like new.” ❌ Point to a state inspection—A basic safety check doesn’t excuse hiding structural issues. ❌ Mention a “settlement offer”—What he won’t tell you is this was just a weak attempt to make me go away, and I haven’t seen a dime from him to make things right. If he can ship me a truck, he can mail me a check. Final Warning: 🚨 DO NOT trust Richard Gravena or Cape Cod Carz. 🚨 Get everything in writing and have a trusted mechanic inspect before purchase. 🚨 Or better yet, buy from an honest dealership instead.

Hello Mr Laney, The following response is the same to all of your negative reviews on different platforms. So yes, you can expect the same response. In response to your claim. First your point to have a vehicle inspected by an independent party prior to purchase is good for both sides of the transaction. It provides added transparency and accountability and we will never discourage it. We often times coordinate the delivery of the vehicle to our customers choice of garage. Secondly the laws that are in place in regards to used vehicle sales in Massachusetts are there to protect the consumer and yet also to protect the dealer against exaggerated claims or unrealistic expectations which in this case it was found we have both. Your 14 year old tundra passed and had documented an independent Massachusetts state safety and emissions inspection prior to delivery. we guaranteed the drivetrain and safety for 30 days in this case. We did not agree with your estimation that the truck would rot out in 3 years. Even if that were true it is not our responsibility to ensure condition of the truck after 3 years. Also you sent an estimate for $8000. worth of work to try and make your used truck a new truck. We never agreed to do that or implied that we would once you took delivery. Every used vehicle we have has some degree of surface rust. Your truck was no exception. We believe your expectations were unrealistic in regards to rust. It also had a preventive undercoating applied by previous ownership. We had it pre inspected when we purchased it and found it not to be applied to cover rot as you claim. We do not claim your frame on your truck is like new. We did in fact offer you a settlement amount out of good faith to address your concerns. You straight out declined our offer. We suggested years ago that if you are unhappy with your truck then you could sell it and use the money we offered you to offset your “projected” loss. Even years later I am still willing to offer you the same settlement amount if it would satisfy you. Unfortunately I don’t think it will. Our reputation is everything and your review reads quite damnimg. Fortunately this forum allows for a response so the public can decide what type of dealer we are. Good luck Mr Laney. Sincerely Richard Gravina Owner/ Operator

🚨 WARNING: Richard Gravena & Cape Cod Carz Are Masters of Deception 🚨 Richard’s response is nothing more than a carefully crafted excuse to dodge responsibility. Let’s break down his misleading claims one by one and expose the truth. 1️⃣ "You should have had it inspected before purchase." 🔹 Richard knew I was buying remotely and assured me in writing that the truck was in 'like new' condition with no rust. That was a lie. 🔹 He never encouraged me to get an independent inspection before purchase—because he knew it would expose the truck’s severe issues. 2️⃣ "Your expectations were unrealistic." 🔹 FALSE. I expected the truck to match Richard’s explicit claims—"like new" and "no rust." It didn’t. 🔹 This wasn’t a case of minor wear and tear. A Toyota dealership confirmed the truck was structurally compromised and would fail within three years. 3️⃣ "The truck passed a Massachusetts safety and emissions inspection." 🔹 That means NOTHING when it comes to hidden structural damage. 🔹 Passing a state safety check does not magically erase a cracked frame, patch-welded bed, and concealed rust. 4️⃣ "All vehicles have some rust." 🔹 Sure—but that’s not what Richard told me before the sale. He explicitly stated the truck had NO rust. 🔹 The truck was fully undercoated to hide structural issues—a common dealer trick. 5️⃣ "We offered a settlement in good faith." 🔹 FALSE. Richard’s so-called “settlement” was a lowball hush money attempt—a fraction of the repair costs. 🔹 I have not seen a single dime from Richard. If he can ship me a truck, he can mail me a check. 🔹 His goal was not to “make things right,” but to make me go away. 6️⃣ "Sell the truck and move on." 🔹 Why should I have to eat the loss from Richard’s deception? 🔹 Instead of standing behind his sale, he’s telling me to pass the problem onto another unsuspecting buyer. That tells you everything about his ethics. 🚨 Final Warning to Potential Buyers 🚨 Richard Gravena and Cape Cod Carz cannot be trusted. His response is a masterclass in gaslighting and avoiding accountability. 💥 If you buy from Cape Cod Carz, assume everything Richard says is a lie. 💥 Get everything in writing and have an independent mechanic inspect the vehicle before purchase. 💥 Better yet, take your business to a dealership that actually stands behind their sales.
