Attempted to purchase late model thru Avis ultimate test drive. Tried to buy car during 2 hour free drive. Was told no finance person available to take car home and wait for call. Called two days later wrote up sale and e-mailed paperwork. Invoice had a document fee of $599. added to it (in addition to state fees and tax) I complained that the doc fee is limited to $85. max in California finance person Alex got huffy and said fee is fixed on all their cars and non-negotiable just go return the car. I did and was hit with a rental charge of over $400 for 2.5 days and 46 mile (my mechanic and back) test drive FREE rental!!! They seem all nice and help full till they try to rip you off with the bogus fee knowing that they will make money on the fee or the rental after they leave you hanging for a few days.
