My wife and I have bought two new vehicles from Sunset,

My wife and I have bought two new vehicles from Sunset, largely because of the warranty for life. Both vehicles have oil consumption issues. When we tried to get these issues looked at both times they came back voiding our warranties, saying that we didn't do recommended services within the timeframe needed. Which is frustrating since we have followed all of the dealers recommendations for oil changes and other services. If they tell us something is due to get done, we have them do it. BUYER BEWARE, WARRANTY FOR LIFE IS A SCAM!! SUNSET DOES NOT LIVE UP TO THEIR WORD!

$8000-$13,000 is not much of a discount, rep who called me even said he was disappointed in the lack of discount. I can buy a new or rebuilt engine and have it installed for way less than your "discounted price". I'm sure you are disappointed that I declined your offer, it would have been a great payday for your shop. Expecting customers to read their owner's manual on a regular basis to ensure the maintenance gets done is a nice loophole you give yourselves to get out of paying for costly repairs. Pretty sure most people like us rely on the service shop to tell us when required maintenance is due.

My power train warranty was void because the service

My power train warranty was void because the service department didn't change my cooling system and I broke a drive axle? Even though I never missed an appointment and did everything my advisor advised me to do? 1150 dollars later? Told it's up to me to know when to replace all fluids? Don't rely on Sunset to keep everything done to stay in compliance!!!

Thank you for taking the time to discuss your concerns with all our management team. The Sunset powertrain warranty, administered by AGWS, requires routine maintenance to be performed in accordance with the manufacturer’s owner’s manual. Unfortunately, based on the documentation provided, those specific maintenance requirements were not met, which affected the eligibility for warranty coverage and denial by AGWS. This was not a decision made by Sunset. Therefore your frustration with us is a bit misdirected. We recognize how disappointing this must be. No one wants to face such a major repair unexpectedly, and we understand your concerns about whether you were adequately informed about the maintenance expectations. This requirement is very clear in the written contract you signed. While we cannot verify past conversations, we do empathize with the position this has put you in. Despite these limitations, Sunset Chevrolet made every effort to explore possible solutions. We reached out to General Motors on your behalf in hopes of obtaining goodwill assistance to help offset the cost of the repair, but unfortunately, that request was not approved. Wanting to do what we could, we offered you a significant discount on the repair. Unfortunately, you are not alone here. Warranty companies are more ridged than ever before with the payment or denial of claims. This is why we created the “Warranty Health Check” at Sunset. It is list of a few questions that will give you some indication if your warranty is at risk…and if it is, some remedies we can assist you with at any time.
