Every purchase requires an additional purchase of an

Every purchase requires an additional purchase of an "Appearance Warranty", which is $700. So whatever price you see online, add motor vehicle sales tax (~6.25% for Houston area), $200 for tags, title, and fees, a $225 documentation fee, and then $700 for the Appearance Warranty. The Appearance Warranty is if someone spills taco bell in your car, or a shopping cart causes a scratch, you can file a claim, and if approved, they'll fix if for free. Whether they deny the claim in the future is uncertain. The $225 documentation fee is standard for every dealer. When I asked for a total price including TTL (tax, title, license), the cost of the "Appearance Warranty" is buried under the heading "Tag/Title/Other fees". So if you don't know what to look for, you think it's just a mandatory state fee. The buyer should have the option to purchase this Appearance Warranty based on his/her risk tolerance. Maybe it's right for a family with toddlers, but may not be as useful for others. If it is truly mandatory, then it should be built into the advertised price.
