This dealership is a joke!

This dealership is a joke! Talked to a live person, explained my sisuation and what I was looking for ect ....after a very long conversation making sure I asked every question I had answered I booked an appointment as I live an hour away from them. I found a ride and paid for gas and set off on a mission where I was assured I would be driving away with a car that day. Only to make it all the way up there and not one thing they promised me was true. I did infact not drive away with a car nor am I able to get one after being pre approved. So not only am I out the money I had to at got the ride I wasted my entire day. If I could give them 0 starts I would! 10 out of 10 DO NOT RECOMMEND going to this dealership!!!!!!

This company needs to be shut down and everyone should

This company needs to be shut down and everyone should get a full refund for the junk cars they sell. They are absolutely terrible people and what they're doing is bordering if not blatantly illegal.

We were promised, put down a deposit, signed a contract,

We were promised, put down a deposit, signed a contract, that has mysteriously disappeared, for a 2020 Honda Odyssey. For weeks we kept getting the runaround that it needed seat covers, then the crash bags had to be replaced then the front seat had to be replaced, but it will absolutely be there by the 30th, "if I have to drive there myself and get it". Then there were hangups when we called and redirections to voicemail. The owner finally admitted they were glad WE backed out of the deal because they could sell the van for whatever they wanted. Left us in the ditch! Two handicapped, Senior Citizens, raising their three grandchildren and caring for an 84 year old Great grandmother with no transportation. You guys deserve the metal of dishonorable sales people. We would not go back to your establishment if you were the only ones in town. I will keep telling everyone I know, run into and hear about wanting a car NEVER EVER Buy a car from them! Have a wonderful night's sleep for the rest of your life.

My Step Daughter ought a car from here.

My Step Daughter ought a car from here. the day after she brought it home from Rockford IL she lives in Springfield IL there was a puddle under the car. She called Grote immediately she drove the two hours back to them to find out that it was a transmission leak. They said the seal was bad. She went back and picked up several days later. Within a day of being home the leak was bigger. She then took to GMC in Springfield and found out there was a crack in the transmission. Grote said that they would not pay for it to be fixed. The dealership did a search on the car and found the powertrain was covered under warranty till April. But the clamps were not. She contacted the Attorney General Office and filed a Complaint. As soon as they were involved Grote was willing to pay for those repairs. I do not recommend purchasing a used car from them.

I am very mad and disappointed with grote automotive in

I am very mad and disappointed with grote automotive in rockford Illinois, I have recently traded my 2015 hyundai sonata hybrid unlimited for a 2017 wrangler jeep along with a van that has a wheelchair lift which is rare to fine for a van in great shape, along with a boat was traded in as well. They did not give me much of a trade in so that they could make more money off from me. I've only had the jeep less then a month haven't made my first payment on the jeep because it has a oil leak, the muffler fell off, the rear bumper and frame is supposed to be fixed, so meantime I'm without transportation so far for 2 days now because my new jeep is being fixed. Will the sales guy was supposed to have 2 other jeeps drove in to the dealership so that I could possibly exchange for a better jeep with less issues. The asking price for the 2017 wrangler jeep was $32,000 There is no way this jeep is worth that much with all the issues going on I do not recommend buying a vehicle from Grote automotive the sales, service and managers have really bad miscommunication. I have been so stressed out just so that I could buy a jeep I've always wanted. If the owner Fred Grote knew how the staff there in rockford Illinois location was operating, he would be disappointed as well It's not for the people it's all about how much the sales ,managers all can make to thr bottom dollar. Meantime I'm without a vehicle until grote automotive service decides when they will fix my jeep the right way. When I called to have my jeep service someone there told me I could possibly get a loaner vehicle which is false, they had to call Uber to come pick me up take me home What kind of dealership is this I don't know I'm very disappointed and I don't plan on ever buying anything from them again, i feel they took advantage of all my trade ins so they could make out on the deal and more down payment on the jeep when they also said I could get this jeep less miles no money down, i end up having to give them $500 down, and here i am now without my jeep. I wish I could go somewhere else like lou bachroe Chevrolet I know they work hard for you to make sure you get what you pay for, instead of being stuck with a vehicle that has too many issues.. Fred Grote you need to know what's going on, because it's not for the people... it's for the sales, service people

Horrendous experience.

Horrendous experience. Bought a Subaru with 97k miles on it. Bought an extended warranty to be on the safe side. Prior to leaving the lot, noises from the engine were noted and I was asked to bring it back within 30 days to repair. Their maintenance department got the vehicle in at around day 25, right near the end of their "contract". Vehicle was checked over and sent back to me "in good working condition". I noticed the vehicle within two months was wobbling when I would drive around 60mph. Brought my vehicle to a tire shop and was shown the rear tires were bald on the inside suggesting poor alignment. After installing new tires I visited Belle Tire and was told my rear lower control arm was busted and needed to be replaced. Two repairs in less than 90 days. I repaired this and was told my mechanic all four brakes needed replacement. I drove the vehicle home to wait for parts. In doing so the front passenger rotor was so corroded and rusted it broke in two pieces. In removing the brake pads I noted they were all completely down to the metal and practically non functional. Keeping up?? Now May of 2024, just over 6 months of owning this vehicle lights begin to come on my dash, power is diminsihed and please note those noises that were originally to be investigated and fixed, still there and have always been there however I was told "Its a Subaru they tend to be louder" by the sales person at Grote. I then noticed a large pool of coolant and leaking oil. In taking the vehicle to a mechanic it was found the vehicle had a blown head gasket as well as another engine gasket needing replacement. Ultimately the entire engine will need replacing. In 6.5 months. I thank my lucky stars I bought the warranty or this would be catastrophic. I attempted to contact the dealer and was given to the "new service director" who initially told me rotors are A)not welded and B) do not break off until I told her I could provide her with pictures. Then told me without me bringing the car to them essentially theres nothing she can do. I informed her I do not trust her service department as they sent me on my way months ago and the vehicle is now completely taken apart and has no engine. I am absolutely disgusted with this company. I would hope that prior to selling vehicles their used vehicles go through an inspection process. However, due to the poor condition of the brakes and rotors alone, I find this hard to believe was done. I strongly recommend anyone that buys a used vehicle from Grote, bring a mechanic with you, give it a full inspection yourself and trust your gut. Get the warranty or go somewhere else. I will never buy from this company again.

I bought a Nissan pathfinder from them December 12th,

I bought a Nissan pathfinder from them December 12th, 2023. I didn’t even have the car 48hrs and it started having problems and I have put over a $1,000.00 of work into fixing this car up. I tried asking for money back for what needed to be fix. They just keep ignoring me and don’t want anything to with me anymoreThey scam you like no other! My payments are 300.00 dollars more than what I wanted to pay. I tried the BBB, I also tried the states Gernal attorney office. As I work with the states attorney and tried to prove that they were in the wrong. They sent stuff through their lawyers office. I won’t even step foot back into their dealership! Also I was told they discount the price from what they were selling it for and it was way over market value for the pathfinder. I have been to so many dealerships just to try to trade it in and I get just volunteer repo it.
