Write a reviewRiverhead Bay Motors VW Lousy Service
Was promised things when i purchased my car and now they do not honor their promises. Service Manager Mr Byrd is not thorough and customer service does not return calls, follow up on emails and gives wrong information regarding car care. Service Manager is very rude and inappropriate. I am so disappointed in the Service!!!! The place was much more thorough and caring and keeping up with promises before the turnover of workers.

I am surprised to see you rated us poorly in regards to sales as well but you purchased a car here? I would like to try and help sort this out but I cannot determine who you are by the information provided in this review. Please contact us so we can work on this together. Riverhead Bay Motors is the place to go!!!
I recently purchased a beautiful car from this dealership. It was a very pleasant experience. The people there bent over backwards to help us with our purchase. There was no hidden fees like there is at alot of other dealerships. The prices were unbelieveable!!! It was a painless experience and I would strongly recommend going there - no gimmicks, the prices are unbeatable, and the people there so a good job working for YOU .... making sure you're happy... Great experience, Thankyou Riverhead Bay Motors!!!!

bad experience
Let me preface this by saying in a few years my family and I have now been shopping for 4 cars. First my father who had a dishonest vibe from riverhead bay motors, then my older sister who didn't like their customer service while she was prepared to pay cash for a brand new car, then myself who was insulted by their selection and customer service, then my mother who was sold a lemon. We are in the process of working with the attorney generals office to lemon law the car. They were rude, and dishonest. I first went to the dealership as a first time buyer they pulled out a car making a squeaky god awful noise you could hear everywhere and insisted it was the a/c belt my boyfriend who is a student mechanic said that the engine would blow and pointed out mutiple issues the car would have I then left and didn't buy it my mother then went and bought it as a "reliable" way to build credit and I cosigned. We were dishonestly told that within 6 months my name would come off the loan if I wanted. The car broke down 2 weeks after purchase. When we tried to return it they refused to take it back the radiator was busted, the steering belt popped, and there were a million other things wrong. They were rude and for lack of any other word were abusive. 1 year later we have spent about 4000 dollars fixing this car and now are dealing with a blown engine and a busted transmission. Its costing us another discounted price 4000 dollars to repair there advice was to have the car repossessed because they couldn't promise the car would stay fixed. And nothing seems to be under warantee. Worst experience of my life.

I am sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with our dealership. We have been under new management since June because of issues in the past. We would certainly not suggest you let a vehicle get repossessed to get rid of the problem. I know you are probably not willing to discuss this with us any further but please contact us and let's see if we can assist you.
Jetta TDI purchase
I was searching around for a new Jetta TDI when I came in to Riverhead Bay VW. Right away I was greated with a hand shake and a smile from Joe. I was really impressed that he took the time to explain the vehicle and answer my questions. The other dealers that I visited before coming to Riverhead all seamed pushy and wanted to sell the car right away and move onto the next guy. I did not feel that way with Joe or any of the people I met that day. I would definately recommend this dealer to any one

Terrible service and sales department
My wife wanted a new station wagon which in 2011 were very rare. VW was the only manufacturer supplying wagons in the US at that time. Riverhead Bay Motors found the exact one we wanted - a silver Jetta wagon - several hundred miles away. We put down a deposit and it arrived within a few days. All seemed great until the sales department heard we were getting a loan from our bank and not them. They lost interest in us. Many delays and excuses were offered during the paper work transfer. After several days of not hearing from them to complete the transaction our agents for both Geico, an excellent auto insurer, and our bank expressed dismay and alarm at their lack of attention to the transaction. They both thought the careless disregard to their calls was unheard of. The agents had to call repeatedly over many days to get their required information. In the middle of the transaction I made an appointment to show them our trade-in on Sunday at 11 am. When I came into the empty showroom both salesmen on duty made me wait till they finished their hero sandwiches before they would meet with me. After much chewing and swallowing they looked at the car and agreed to the trade-in value. Several days later we were told we could pick up the car so we made an appointment. Our salesman took us to our new car and we found it covered in green dust. He said "Oh, that just tree discharge, it happens this time of year." What? Really? Are you too lazy to wash to a car you just sold? The delayed transaction, rude attitude to us and our bank and insurance agents and the green dust spoiled the excitement of buying a new car. Six months later: My wife ran over a rock and damaged the tire rim. I took it back to Riverhead Bay Motors and they said it would have to be replaced, the estimate was fair. After one week of waiting, and not a word from service, I called and was told that the one year old part was not available anymore and they would have to make a new one for me in Germany. Q. "How long would that take?" A. "Not sure." Q. "Would we have to wait for VW to warm up the forge?" A. "Don't know." Q. "Why didn't you call us and let us know about the delay? A. "We were just told this by the part supplier." Q. "Why didn't you offer us a loaner car while we were waiting?" A. "Okay, would you like one now?" I called the manager and left an angry message. Service called back immediately to say they would take a rim off another car. The price was fair and I picked it up in a couple of hours. The service guy behind the desk would not look or talk to me. I paid while he was talking to a buddy. No apology, no acknowledgement of the long waiting period. Very unprofessional and weird. Why did I have to get angry to get results? Also, beware of the price for an oil change. They charge $80 compared to the $40 (and better service) offered at nearby Apple Honda.

Dear Sir, As I do not have your name or phone number, please excuse the email contact. I would have preferred to speak directly to you. I pride myself in customer satisfaction, and am disturbed, although not completely surprised at your experience with your purchase experience. We have revamped some of our procedures, and replaced a few salespeople in an effort to eliminate experiences like yours. The last thing you want to do in a tough business climate, is annoy a customer, or not show them that you appreciate their business. You should have received a call from parts or service to let you know that certain Jetta wheels were on backorder, believe it or not, due to last years tsunami, as many of the accessory parts are Asian origin, or supplied by a mfg in an Asian country. We now have a system in the computer, and a daily meeting with parts to review daily backorder and stock order items, which should remove that problem. As far as the oil change, VW's require synthetic oil, and Honda does not. Neither do Subaru or Suzuki's that we service, and oil changes at our dealership are $29.95 for those cars. Vw's factory requirements are different. That being said, feel free to contact me at 631-727-4000x201, and your next service is on me to try and make up to you for some of your issues. Thank you, Ron Siegel
Poor salesman attitude
I just review the used sales department. Nice location, amenities, nice facility. I first dealt with Greg, honest salesman, I was looking for a certified VW. I came back second day to meet an indian guy, very unprofessional and arrogant, not willing to discuss any negotiation, I told him there is a nearby seller with similar car and with lower price i was in contact, he called them to pull the car out of the selling list. very unprofessional, the car came back 2 days later. I ended buying from Smithtown VW where i had a rather pleasing experience. I returned a month later to inquiry about a Golf and trade my car because i was impressed about the VW i just bought. Now a different seller, Joe, again, no interest as long i do not go with their numbers, low balling on my trade and unpleasant jokes, i found him very unprofessional as the indian guy. Go somewhere else, Smithtown is worth the drive, these people do not want customers, they want to make fast money. CArs were priced right though.

Riverhead Bay prides itself in customer satisfaction and "the best car-buying experience you will ever have". Customer was displeased that he owed more on his trade in than he thought, as per his bank. We have called several times to customer to try and accommodate with no return phone calls.
