Do Not buy from this dealership or let them work on your

Do Not buy from this dealership or let them work on your vehicle. We purchased a used BMW for our daughter and immediately had multiple problems. The car was sold to us as having gone through a “multi point inspection” and being in great condition. They said this included oil and filters change. We test drove it near the dealership at up to around 50 mph. On the ride home at 70 mph on the interstate, we felt a bad vibration. We took the car to our local BMW dealer. They wanted up to $4000 to repair the problems with the car if the oil pan needs replacing and to replace the wheel. $3000 for the oil pan and $900 for the wheel. The car had a bent rim/wheel, and cross threaded/stripped oil pan plug that prevented the oil from being changed. Their inspection did not reveal a bent wheel which is easy to see if you try and balance the tires. We called the Hartwell Ford GM about the problems and they refused to stand behind the car and told us they wanted nothing to do with it. I am guessing that if we were a local customer we might have been treated better but maybe not. The warranty that they included with the car, would, of course, not cover any of this either. When we bought the car, we were told it had “high performance tires” which we found to be $70 each or very cheap tires. We were told they could be contributing to the vibration problem as cheap tires are not as true or round as good tires. We were told that they are so cheap, they should probably be replaced. The dealer tried to include a “ DOC or Dealer fee” at the time of purchase AFTER we agreed on an "out the door" price. This is just more profit on top of the profit built into the sales price. They told us the state requires a DOC fee and this is simply not true. The state requires you to show it in the advertised sales price if you charge one. Cobb Toyota in Atlanta even advertises “No Dealer Fees” on their website. Hartwell Ford also inflated the tag fee which we Googled in front of them to prove it was not required. We were not sure if they are totally dishonest or do not train their sales people and allow them to say and do anything to close a deal. BMW told us that these problems were caused by the last person to change the oil, which was Hartwell Ford if they were being honest and actually did the oil change. They also said the bent wheel should have been recognized in an inspection. Evidently they are not training their service mechanics very well if at all. We would never be able to trust anything this dealership tells us and would NEVER purchase anything from them again and you shouldn’t either.

Hi Johnno! We really appreciate your feedback and apologize that the pricing has gone up on a lot of services and products. Unfortunately, labor rates continue to increase as well as parts and supplies. We try to take care of as much of those increases as possible without passing them all off on the consumer, but we apologize you are feeling the effects of that. We do appreciate your business and hope everything else was right in line with your expectations.
