I recently purchased a 2020 Ford Ranger Lariat 4x4 from

I recently purchased a 2020 Ford Ranger Lariat 4x4 from Mike Patton Ford. The buying process itself was smooth and straightforward, but the real issue lies in the dealership’s ethics and integrity. From the very beginning, I made it crystal clear to the salesperson that adaptive cruise control was a non‑negotiable feature. I currently own a 2020 Ford Fusion with adaptive cruise and rely on it daily, especially in Atlanta’s stop‑and‑go traffic. I explained that this was a deal breaker, and the salesperson assured me that the Ranger I was considering had the same system. Based on that confirmation, I moved forward with the purchase. Unfortunately, I quickly discovered that the Ranger’s adaptive cruise control is not the same as the Fusion’s system. The Ranger lacks the “stop‑and‑go” functionality, which only became available starting in 2023 models. This was the exact feature I needed, and the sole reason I chose the Ranger over other trucks. When I contacted the dealership, they admitted they were unaware of this difference—despite being a Ford dealer. I asked them to work with me fairly to resolve the situation. Instead, they offered to buy back the truck for $26,500, even though I had just paid just under $30,000 plus $2,000 in taxes and fees. That left me facing a $5,500 loss for a mistake that stemmed from their misinformation. I even proposed taking a $3,000 loss, which would have allowed them to resell the truck with minimal impact to their bottom line. But rather than doing the right thing, they chose to prioritize profit over integrity. This experience highlights a dealership more concerned with protecting its margins than treating customers fairly. A simple misunderstanding became a costly burden for me, while they had every opportunity to make it right. In my opinion, this reflects poorly on their ethics, character, and integrity. If you value honesty and fair dealing, I strongly recommend taking your business elsewhere.
