I want to share just how incredible my experience was with the service team at McGovern Toyota of Portsmouth, especially Matt Chretien. I was in an incredibly high-stress situation. My truck had a major electrical failure right when I needed to get my mom to Boston for her knee surgery. I was visiting from out of town and live in Washington DC, so I had no choice but to get the truck off the highway, leave the truck at the dealership, find a rapid rental car and coordinate everything from afar. I was super anxious and overwhelmed, but from the moment I connected with Matt, I felt like I was in the best hands possible. Matt did not just get my truck into the shop quickly. He personally helped me arrange a rental car on the spot so I could still get my mom to her surgery. That alone would have meant the world, but it was just the beginning. What followed was a complex and extended repair process involving difficult electrical diagnostics, coordination with my insurance company, and sourcing multiple parts that were not easy to get in stock from Toyota. Matt stayed in close contact the entire time, communicating with clarity and patience and making sure I understood what was happening every step of the way. Even from a distance, I felt informed and completely taken care of and supper responded to. I also want to give a huge thank you to the technician who worked on my truck. The level of care and expertise was outstanding. Diagnosing the issue was no small task, and the technician not only got it right, but also provided real-time video updates that walked me through what was wrong and explained the logic behind each repair step. That kind of transparency and professionalism gave me real peace of mind. When it came time to pick up the truck, I was again met with extraordinary support. Since I needed the vehicle over the holiday weekend and the service shop was closed, the General Manager, also named Matt, personally opened up the service shop area to hand off the keys and make sure everything was in order. That kind of leadership and customer-first attitude is incredibly rare and deeply appreciated. When I drove away, my mom was with me and we were both blown away. The truck was spotless, running perfectly, and they had also completed a recall repair that needed attention. In a world where genuine personal service is becoming harder to find, McGovern Toyota delivered something truly exceptional. This was not just about fixing a vehicle. It was about helping someone through an incredibly stressful time with kindness, skill, and integrity. McGovern Toyota of Portsmouth has earned my full respect and appreciation. Matt Chretien, the technician, and General Manager Matt went above and beyond in every way. I only wish there were people like this at a dealership near me in the DC area. I would absolutely return and recommend them to anyone looking for honest, top-tier service. They have a customer for life, even though I don't live in the area!
