Sarcastic salesman, so I left without looking
I went in to Cable Dahmer to look at a vehicle I saw online. I couldn't find the vehicle on the lot, so I had to go inside to find a salesman. After the salesman located the vehicle - I think it had been parked out back for some reason - I told him that I had a few questions before I looked at the vehicle. The vehicle I was looking at - a minivan - was a 2006 model year. After spending some time car hunting over the last few weeks I had discovered that a lot of mid 2000's vehicles had a timing belt instead of a timing chain. I was concerned with whether this vehicle had a timing belt - and if so - whether it had been changed as it was supposed to (as part of normal vehicle maintenance on that vehicle). However when I told the salesman of my concerns his response was a flippant - "I'm not a mechanic". The fact is - I knew he wasn't a mechanic - but he could have taken a few minutes to check whether the vehicle had a belt or chain, but was obviously unwilling. And when I mentioned that a belt change would probably show on a CarFax report, his response back was that they don't provide those to customers. So in the space of less than 20 seconds, this flippant, rude salesman managed to convince me that he didn't care at all whether he sold the vehicle. So I left, and I definitely won't be back to Cable Dahmer. Funny thing is - it turns out that ending in that vehicle had a timing chain, so my concerns were unfounded. If the salesman had just taken a few minutes to look it up for me, I probably would have bought the vehicle.
