I'm currently in the market for a Ford Mach-E GT and found what I thought to be a gem at a great price listed at the HB Ford dealership via an advertisement that was posted on TrueCar. The reality was that it was a blatantly false and misleading ad - which is completely illegal and unethical business behavior. After coming across the ad, I contacted the dealership to inquire about purchasing that specific vehicle at the listed discounted price. However, it turned out that they in fact did NOT have that car available at that price point at all. By advertising a particular vehicle at a rock bottom price in order to lure in customers, when they actually had no intent of selling said vehicle at that price, this dealership was engaging in illegal behavior. This clearly violates Section 5 of the FTC Act which prohibits unfair and deceptive trade practices. I wasted hours of my valuable time responding in good faith to an ad that was proven to be false. The dealership refused to take accountability for their misleading claims. The sales rep could only try to pressure me to purchase a more expensive vehicle instead and pretend that the ad I kept showing them didn't exist. This is completely unacceptable, plain and simple. I suggest others looking for a Ford to avoid providing business to HB Ford. I would also encourage reporting them to the FTC for further investigation into their deceptive sales practices. Car buyers beware - ads are not always what they seem!
