Easy, comfortable and stylish everyday driver
I am new to the Jeep line of vehicles. I have had a 2018 Cherokee and am now the owner of a 2018 Compass. The Compass is a great vehicle the will meet the needs of most. From it's decent amount of interior space, to it's gas mileage - it's about the right size for a couple or small family seeking a reliable everyday driver. Interior is quite comfortable. The seats are firm, heated and come with plenty of support for lumbar and head rest. The MoonRoof on this compass is nothing the balk at and is absolutely amazing. Dual pane tinted glass adds a good bit of headspace as well as light into the vehicle. There is also a suncreen that you can close to block out heat and light on hot days. The gauges are backlit with white light and an 8"LCD in the gauge cluster. In some models, like mine, it is accompanied with a SiriusXM Guardian music and settings system. This also controls your climate. There is also manual climate settings so you don't have to switch screens on the Guardian. The SiriusXM Guardian system is very simple and easy to use. Works much like an Android or Apple device - also has the ability to mirror such a device's screen when jacked into the USB of the Compass. All the optional safety features and settings are controlled within the Guardian system. My specific model has ParkSense, which warns you via sonar (in the gauge cluster) and video from the backup camera on the Guardian screen how close the vehicle is to objects as well as approaching moving objects. It also has LaneSense, which is designed to keep you from drifting in lanes within the road. I used this feature for about a 1,000 miles and ended up turning it off. It's not that it's a bad system, but it does get false reads from time to time. If you're not expecting it, it will catch you off guard when your steering wheel attempts to correct one way but you're expecting to go in another. For the most part, when you're on the freeway it works like a charm, until you come up on an exit ramp. Because the LaneSense system uses camera technology and relies on the lines painted on the road to work, it will get a false read on some exit ramp lines and attempt to correct the vehicle onto the exit ramp. It happened once in the 1,000 miles I used the system and it was very aggressive at attempting to correct the vehicles direction. I decided to shut it off as it wasn't the most comfortable of side effects of the LaneSense system. I suspect it works best on the freeway in the middle or left-most lane. Other than that, I don't use it. As far as performance, my model has the 2.3L TigerShark engine that is putting out about 185hp and the 9 speed Manu-matic transmission. Not a bad amount, but if you're looking for something zippy, the Compass is not it. It's not so much the engine, but the transmission that makes the Compass' acceleration lackluster. The first 4 gears are quite short and cycling through them is quick when going from 0 - 35mph. Because of this, acceleration is affected, but not eliminated. Gears 5 - 8 are reasonably tall and get taller as you advance through them. I'm generally turning about 2,000 RPM at 73 MPH in 8th gear on the freeway. 9th gear is almost a waste and doesn't usually engage until speeds of +85 MPH - and that's only if you're cruising on flat or slightly downhill freeway road. I suspect 9th gear is too tall for the TigerShark to handle and is therefore, of no real use. In the end, I average 24 MPG combined and 29 - 34 MPG freeway. My model also includes full-time automatic 4x4 system that works well for light off-road and mountain/forest driving. I have taken this Compass into the mountains multiple times and the 4x4 works great. Just switch to what kind of terrain you're driving on (it gives you 4 different options) and go. That easy. Obviously, this is not a vehicle that is designed for aggressive 4x4 trails and driving, but it will get you just about anywhere and will have no issue driving through most types of road conditions All in all, this Compass gets a B+ in my book. Slightly above average in performance and fuel economy, excellent interior and exterior styling, above average safety specs and features as well as smooth driving. It's hindered by the 9 speed transmission and needs more power output to compensate for the tall gears - however, it is slightly redeemed because of the Fuel Economy produced. I would recommend this vehicle to many types of family and friends if it fit their lifestyle.

The brakes are VERY GOOD, just lay your toe on it. I'm an antique so I have a lot to learn about What it can do On the touch screen lol. Have fun

Great car
This car is absolutely amazing. It’s great in the snow and very reliable. Go to see Jared at Arlington Heights CDJR! He’s so great! He helped me find exactly what I was looking for! He’s young but extremely knowledgeable.

I love it. But
My Daughter drives it daily. Great vehicle, but we live in Vermont long winters. I am not happy that Jeep put an all season tire in the North East. Which in turn cost us another $800.00 dollars for Snow tires. My Bought a 2018 Renegade, loves it to. Slid on all seasons in 4 wheel drive = FENDER BENDER. Come on Jeep on off road tires in the future. We shouldn't have keep buying tires for the seasonal changes. Thanks P.S. I drive a Dodge Ram 1500 hundred, and I love it. switched from a chevy for ten years. Great job on the Pick-up.

Very sporty, yet economical
I downsized from a full size Ram pickup truck due to health issues. This is a perfect fit for me, as I am but 5 ft tall. I love the 4 wheel drive option, since I'm a born and raised southerner and need it for those snowy Ohio days. It's a true joy to feel comfortable, yet safe, and this vehicle delivers. I love the panoramic sun roof!!!!!!

Needed a new engine at 2450 miles.
I was 700 miles away from my home when the service engine light went on. Luckily I was near a dealer. Bottom line - there was water in a cylinder, which was a factory defect. I was without my vehicle for 6 weeks because a new engine needed to be ordered. I bought the car brand new and only had it for 3 months, by the way. The warranty covered everything. When I got it back, the stop start feature wasn't working. I have been waiting for SEVEN months for the battery for that to be available!!!

My dream car
The Jeep Compass 2018 is hands down the best car I could imagine owning. It is tough, stylish, affordable and high tech. It makes the driving experience much more enjoyable. I wake up every morning excited to able to drive my Jeep.
