I love it . Looking to buy another or keep mine go

Not a lot of room in cab but over 400000 and still going strong and starts every time . Pulls great even when overloaded. I would recommend this truck with the 3.9L motor to anyone

never had 1 dummy light, awesome 4x4 strong engine

Put it this way, I just bought another one, same year/model. I sold the old one to my nephew who's already driven it to Az from San Diego more than once & its never once over heated in the 15 yrs Ive owned

Still have the smile on my face

Does this count as a poem? Buy a new Ram, they say. You need a nice truck, they say. I say, my smile is large, and my heart is full.

Great all-around vehicle

Love the styling, ride comfort and usability of this mid sized truck. Plenty power from the V6. Nice interior styling and room; although tight back seating. Nice sized bed area.

GREAT WORK TRUCK

5.2L V8, SLT, Power everything. Bought @ 118,** miles for $1,400. Only real issue I've had was loose steering, easy fix. Water pump went out @ 135,*** miles. Ball joints started making noise and have been replaced along with brake pads @ about 140,*** miles. All repairs done by me for a cost of about $380, rather than taking to a shop for a cost upwards of what i paid for the truck. 5.2L is a beast, plenty of power and torque, and has no problem breaking loose 31x12.5 Mud Terrains. MPG is not good however you do not buy a truck with a V8 to get good MPG. Considering I commute 70 miles per day, 6 days a week, and not to mention make deliveries with small tractors on trailers, this truck has preformed extremely well. Now has 150,123 miles. Will need to replace freeze plugs and coolant hoses soon, but again, a very cheap fix if you can do the repairs yourself.

I LOVE MY TRUCK

This truck is amazing! Most reliable vehicle i have ever owned. Just flipped 190k miles and still running strong, never had a check engine light on. Its amazing in the snow. has the typical dodge rust. Very comfy ride on the inside i absolutely love the seats. Hands down best thing ive ever owned.

98 SLT 4X4

I owned my Dakota for 14 years. Rebuilt the transmission at 80000. Outside of that, was very reliable, never failed to start and ran well. Just sold it to an excited buyer - nice truck -

Long runner running out

Bought my 98 SLT in '04. I bought it to carry mail as a rural carrier because the bench seat makes it easy to "cross-drive" and the amounbt of space in the extended cab was perfect (with a topper). After 5 years of that I moved on and the truck has moved with me... I never had any trouble with it. I don't consider regular maintenance trouble though. Today, June '13, it's still running strong. Lately though it's been showing it's age. I had a heck of a time diagnosing the computer that was going out. Pretty cheap and very simple fix though. The Front wheels are about to go though. The ball joints have had it and the rubber parts that hold the grease are all blown out. The motor is strong. No transmission troubles. Now it's at the point though that a $1,200 fix may or may not be worth the money. But for $1,200, good luck finding a better running truck!
