A pleasant surprise
I'd been interested in this car for a while, and when I suddenly had to replace my old car, I was fortunate enough to find this one as an 'off-fleet' vehicle. It has a trunk that is incredibly large, and the right hand seats in the front and back fold flat for longer items you might need to haul. While the Five Hundred is rather pedestrian in appearance, its interior is nicely appointed- mine has slate gray leather seats. I especially appreciated the higher 'Command Seating', great sound system, and the electric moon roof. It turned out to be a great winter car- keeping my toes toasty through some freezing weather. I also like the way it sticks to the road in icy conditions, and it handles very nimbly for a large car. The gas mileage is also a pleasant surprise- I get around 23 mpg in city driving, and over 30 on longer trips. This car has been replaced by the revived Taurus line- same car, more 'glitz'.

Most comfortable and easy to live with sedan ever
I have a 2007 Blue 500 and have just under 12K miles on it. This is a great car and really shines in many ways. The most important feature is COMFORT, the 500 is so easy to get into and out of - then the high seating make driving fun. Had a Camry rental last week and, while it is similar, it is not as comfortable, sits a lot lower and if frankly rather boring. The Five Hundred is very plain (like the Mercedes and VW) which I like. I always feel safe in the car as it is quite heavy and performance is more than adequete, but it is not a hot rod (what large sedan is?). Think the Taurus is also nice, but the 500 name and styling was better in every way. Glad I have a "rare" car that is fun and affordable. Prices were really discounted - and I paid the same price as a Honda Civic - if the build quality holds up I will be happy. Have several other ford Focus models for the college kids and they have been trouble free. Ford is under rated and has really improved - just do your homework and shop - at full sticker you can do better - but with the rebates and discounts they cannot be beat!.

A quality vehicle that is under appreciated
It?s too bad the new American dream is to place a premium on foreign vehicles while ignoring home built products from the big 3. The Five Hundred is an excellent example of a quality product that has gone largely unnoticed. Ford must share some responsibility as the marketing of the car was poor and the styling quite subdued. Despite the handicap from mother this is an outstanding vehicle. Get beyond the stodgy look and one can?t help but appreciate what is probably the easiest passenger car to enter thanks to its elevated seating position. Rather then fall in the car, you kind of slide in which also makes for easy egress. Once seated you?ll notice excellent all around vison with very few blind spots. If you?re lucky enough to own the Limited model leather based memory seats and automatic climate control are nice additions that enhance the luxury feel of the vehicle. The interior is nicely appointed and includes the mandatory cup holders, fold down seats, front and rear arm rests with built-in storage, map pockets etc. Few if any vehicles in its class can match the spacious interior and generous trunk space. Out on the road is where the Five Hundred really shines. I really enjoy the firm ride provided by the suspension. I always feel in control as the car seems glued to the road and moves through corners with very little body roll. The 203 HP V-6 is a little noisy under moderate to hard acceleration but quickly calms down as it moves into the higher gears. A relatively smooth 6 speed automatic provides decent response when called upon. Despite claims the vehicle is under powered I don?t share the same opinion. The upgraded engine in the rebadged 2008 Taurus adds 60 HP but I?ll take the mileage advantage over getting to the next light a little quicker. I average 24 MPG around town which ain?t bad for a 3,600 lb vehicle. I do have a few gripes, windshield glare off the dash can be very annoying at times. I?d also like to know why a car in this price range doesn?t include an autostick transmission. Well I just haven?t found the perfect car but for the most part I?m quite pleased with this one.

Impressive car
Having read some of the other reviews of this car I had to add my impressions. A few have complained about its acceleration, but Ford doesn't bill this car as a sports sedan, so its performance is adequate, not spectacular The car handles well, staying flat in corners with a very solid road feel. Road noise is minimal even on rougher roads as are the norm in our area. The interior and exterior finish are excellent as is the standard equipment package on the SEL. The comfort level is excellent, with exceptional leg room front and back as well as very comfortable leather seating. Drive train is technologically advanced with the 6sp. auto, the Duratec V-6 and electronic controls. Fuel mileage is outstanding for a car with this much interior room. We have averaged over 31 mpg on the highway on longer trips and consistantly 25/26 in everyday conditions. To be fair, we rarely drive above the speed limits and do very little stop and go driving. Overall this car is a notch or two above some of the other full sized sedans on the market but for whatever reason hasn't gotten much attention. Too bad because its a great car for the money.

way better than a focus
Afer owning a 2002 Focus ZX3 I swore that I would never buy another Ford but I couldn't say no to the Five-Hun. This car has everything I need to live up here in the Northeast. I bought a used 2005 AWD Limited for 13 large and I have no regrets yet. Great gas mileage, good power and many luxery features make this car a winner!

excellent choice
CVT rules the road in the smoothest acceleration, AWD rules the snow helped by the big wheels. Sufficient power, sensible fuel consumption (helped by CVT), plenty off room inside the passenger cabin and in the trunk, folding rear seats... Best buy foir the money!

Ford Has A Winner
Best car I've ever owned for comfort, safety, interior space and seating. For the price, you can not beat the buy. The chrome package really adds a new and different look to it. It definitely has enough power for me, and the mileage is better than I ever expected.

From a Lincoln to a Ford 500 Limited SEL
I have owned my Ford 500 Limited SEL 2007 for two months. I traded my Lincoln Town Car in for a Ford 500 Limited SEL because I was looking for a car that was good on gas and smaller. However, I wanted to stay in the luxury line of cars so that is why I chose the Ford 500. This car is huge in the inside and the trunk is probably the same size as my Lincoln. As far as gas, I can ride a little over a week before I fill up as oppose to the Lincoln I filled up gas twice a week. If you are looking for a luxury car without the luxury price and fully loaded, the Ford 500 is the way to go. My car was 26,455.00.

Don't count American cars out yet!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've owned my new 2007 Five-Hundred Limited for about a month now, and all I have to say is WOW! You can definitely tell that Ford is making every effort to improve their automotive line. I paid $31k (tax included) for a fully loaded FWD Limited, and it's by far the best car I've ever owned. Roomy, great ride, and good gas mileage. I don't understand what everyone is saying about it being underpowered (runs fine to me). A comparable luxury sedan from Acura, Infiniti, Lexus, Audi, or BMW would have been about $13k more (to start), $20k more fully equipped, so there is no doubt this car is a great value. Drive one and you'll be a believer!!!
