Explore the 2001 GMC Jimmy

I own a 2001 in indigo blue metallic.

I own a 2001 in indigo blue metallic. Beautiful, comfortable vehicle with great going power in bad weather and up and down hills, but the stopping power is not so good. It’s been a money pit since it hit 34,000 miles. The wheel bearings were shot every couple thousand miles. A hole rotted through the gas tank when it was 5 years old. The 4 wheel and 2 wheel drive switch stopped working within a few years after my purchase. My dad is a car guy and one time when he took the wheels off to change the brakes and pads, the backer plates crumbled and fell to the ground like ashes. He said he has never even seen this with cars sitting in the junkyard for 25 years. The list if repair issues goes on and on. In summary, I sunk almost as much into this vehicle for repairs as I did to buy the vehicle. I can say that there is no cancer at all on the body over all these years and we keep it parked outside, not in a garage. My dad is hanging onto it, because of all the work he did in addition to so many things being replaced at garaged that its like new in that sense. General Motors did a great job with the body though. The body is very tough and holds up well over time. The suv will get you anywhere you need to go in a snow storm. The biggest constant problem above all else were the constant wheel bearing replacements. My dad always bought top of the line replacement parts too. It’s just the way the suv was made. When this was my one and only daily drive, it was a nightmare wondering what else was next and where it would need to be towed from next. Glad I didn’t pay $3,000 more for the Diamond Edition package….

Original owner of a 2 dr 2001.

Original owner of a 2 dr 2001. 180K and towed a boat with it for 22 year. Best vehicle I've ever owned. ❤️ I'd buy it all over again. Wished I hadn't sold it. Absolutely 💯 recommend.

Was just a little TLC, and a slightly bigger exhaust,

Was just a little TLC, and a slightly bigger exhaust, this 4.3 V6 get as good a gas mileage as an LS body size vehicle if not better, IMO. I'm running 1700 RPM to do 75 miles an hour on the interstate. In this time of massive onboard equipment, I find that this GMC Jimmy of mine has just enough in the OBD2 system. The reliability factor is phenomenal in that I've already put 250,000 MI on this one and it still has all the original VIN stickers. I also love the fact that there's no coil springs on the suspension and the comfort level is spot on.

Don't buy Chevy

The 2001 GMC Jimmy SLT is the biggest waste of money I ever could have paid for, I paid 7500 USD for a southern rust free truck and spent over 40000 total just in repairs parts might be cheap for a gm but the quality sucks I have had it in a shop or on the side of the road more than I have driven it even when I got it used with 56k on the dashboard it had big problems. Been through 2 new reman 4.3 vortec v6 engines, transmission overheated badly inevitably needing a rebuild, and still overheated, so had to install a class a RV trans cooler just to keep temps down. Ontop of 4wd always having issues with the front diff leaking and a lot of wiring nightmares with it being an older truck now, wiring harnesses get brittle with age. The worst peeve I have had about it is the front door hinges and latches are garbage, I have to replace them every year because they do not hold. I owned my jimmy for 7 years and was the largest disappointment of a vehicle I've ever had

Good used truck

Have hunted for this truck to fix up. This is where the best price in the state was and in this time of panic cool thinking and good people make a difference. Thanks so much for all your efforts.

I own a 2001 GMC Jimmy. The interior is nice exce

I've had the car for a long time since 2005. Overall I do like my Jimmy. I really liked my blazer better because of the interior design. The gear shift was on the steering column. To drink holders were on the console.

Great towing for a small package

I owned a Jimmy to tow my mowers around and it did far more than I expected. It was able to tow more than ever needed it too.

As always, Chevy delivered on another good car.

All of these S Style Chevy's are great. They've never left me stranded. I've owned many of the S styles and have never been disappointed.

reliable vehicle

my uncle gave me this vehicle before he died, i have had for almost a few months, i like it is a good vehicle, it is 4x4 black exterior, black cloth seats, the driver seat has some tears, but i do not care about the tears just as long has it runs beautifully

Great body style and looks like an SUV

I wish all SUVs looked like this one. Most of them today have been made to look like station wagons. We've enjoyed our "Jimmy" for years and have never had any issues with it.
