Like a Tesla without all the range anxiety
I bought this car for the specific purpose of using the carpool lane in California. Being an Accord, it looks like a normal car which I really like. The front and rear bumpers and grille are unique, and very sporty. (For the other reviewer, you can order these parts at the Honda dealer, but they have to look it up using your VIN number). The Accord PHEV uses a 6.7 kilowatt battery which gives me about 12-15 miles of EV range depending on how hard I drive it. It's a small battery, so it only takes about an hour to charge at the ChargePoint station. The car also uses a 2.0 liter Atkinson Cycle gas engine as well. The system is similar to the second-gen Chevy Volt and current Ford Fusion Energi. On average, I get about 48 MPG. If I try to hyper-mile it in ECON, I can get about 53 MPG, which is crazy for a car this size. What I find is, if I am cruising around town, I'll use EV mode. When I am on the freeway, I'll use HV (Hybrid Vehicle) mode. You can manually select EV or HV mode, which is great. In EV mode, the acceleration is quite good. In HV mode, the car will recharge the battery with the engine. In terms of comfort, the car is light years ahead of most others in this class. The light gray cloth seats are soft, supportive and heated in the front and rear of the vehicle. These cars were all built in Japan, so the build quality is superb. Being the top trim for 2014 (above Touring), it came with navigation and infotainment options from the factory. Sure, it's no Tesla, but then I spent about half the money I would spend on a new Model 3. It's surprising Honda chose to produce the Clarity Plug-In and not continue with the Accord Plug-In. This is a marvelous car, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a luxurious, bulletproof commuter car without the limitations of a pure electric vehicle or the hefty Tesla price tag.

Wonderful car for commuter
The 2014 Honda Accord Plug-In Hybrid is very reliable and is a great family car. It has many accessories, such as Adaptive Cruise Control. It enables commuters in California to drive solo in the carpool lane. It will drive for 12 to 15 miles in electric-only mode, unlike a normal hybrid. Many common errands are within that distance, so it is surprisingly convenient.

Love this car!
I've owned this car for 3 months and it's been great. I'm getting 82MPG for my normal work commute and miscellaneous weekend driving. Mileage will vary dramatically based on many factors. I get 13-16 miles per charge, which works great for me since my work commute is 16-17 miles AND I can charge at work, which explains my high MPGs. Even without charging, the car gets 45-50 MPGs which is outstanding for a car this size. Aside from the high MPGs when running in EV mode, the car runs amazingly smooth and quiet. In HV mode, the high revving engine during starts is a little annoying and takes some getting used to. Performance is fine considering it's a Hybrid. The car has adequate power for normal use, but don't expect this hybrid to be as responsive as a gas engine. Yes, trunk space is limited too. If you constantly require a larger trunk, this car isn't for you. I love the tech in the car. The side view and rear view cameras are nice. It can even read your text message back to you while driving. Bluetooth connectivity has been a little inconsistent, however. All the controls take a while to master, but once you're familiar with it, the car offers plenty of gadgets and user-settings. I also love the external and internal styling of the car. As ubiquitous as Accords are, I feel like the plug-in stands out from any other Accords, even though the differences are subtle. Only 1100 were sold and only in CA and NY, so you won't see many around. Frankly, after owning this plug-in, I don't know if I'd go back to a gas engine.

Electrified Vehicles at their finest
The 1st impression is the attractive styling in this efficient plug-in with the EPAs highest mileage for a 2014 model. The quiet ride accompanied by a very intuitive instrument panel gives you the best of comfort and economy. All of my in town driving was accomplished with the electric system. 3 out of town trips were completed before I needed to add 9.3 gallons of gasoline. 1,163 miles on 9.3 gallons. If you have solar panels, you must experience one of these incredible, reliable Hondas.
