2019 Honda Civic Type R consumer reviews

Of all the cars I have purchased in my lifetime, the Honda Civic Type R stands out as my most satisfying purchase. I’ve owned high performance Audi’s & Subaru’s, and had more run of the mill Nissan, Chevrolet, Volvo and Acura products in my driveway as well. I also have had the opportunity to drive a 2006 Corvette extensively. While all of these cars had their pros and cons, none of them put it all together to meet my needs quite like the Type R. It’s fast and exciting to drive, with an amazing amount of power coming from the 2.0 liter turbo 4 cylinder engine. It accelerates, handles, shifts and brakes like a sports car, but has the practicality of a typical hatchback, and offers selectable driving modes to accommodate your needs at the time. If you want a compliant cruiser, select “comfort” mode do it, but in sport or R+ mode, the Type R can light up a windy road like few other cars. The styling is a bit over the top and a touch juvenile, but I love it. As for the interior, the seats are amazing and the steering wheel, pedals, clutch feel, shift lever, instrumentation, etc. are all designed to make you a better driver. The Type R isn’t going to be everyone’s cup of tea, but if you want a relatively practical car that is an absolute blast to drive, check it out.

The Civic Type R brings the usefulness of a hatchback and performance of a sports car all in one awesome package. The styling may not be for everyone but the fact that it is all useful to the balance and performance of the car makes it worth it. My only knock would be the faux vents shoood have been opened up to aid in engine cooling since when it’s on the track engine temps can be an issue. Everything else is superb. If you get it you will not be disappointed
