I bought a used 2018 touring edition.

I bought a used 2018 touring edition. This is my first non-Big 3 vehicle and first hybrid. It has a bit of a learning curve but overall I am pleased with my purchase. I'm able to drive in electric mode most of the time. It has lots of interior room and trunk space. It's not sporty, you can feel it's a heavy car when driving through curves etc. A few foibles. The low tire pressure warning doesn't indicate which tire is low and has to be reset after filling. Inexcusable, I have 2012 cars that indicate the tire and don't have to be reset. You have to pay attention to the drive mode, it defaults to EV which is great unless you're on a long trip. You do not want to let the charge get to zero which is easy to do if you stop on the interstate and forget to switch it back to HV mode. Once it hits zero it no longer charges the battery with regenerative braking, weird. Again, overall I'm happy with the car and would buy it again.

I love this Plug-in Hybrid!!!

I had had a Nissan Leaf but when my husband was moved to a veteran's home 200+ miles away, I had to rent a car to go see him. Traded it for a Honda 2018 Plug-In Hybrid, went to the dealer and drove away with it the same day. The dealership was awesome, The car was a dream to drive to visit my husband. I started with a full charge and a full tank of gas (a whole 7 gallons... lol) got another tank of gas at the other end and got home with miles to spare. After my husband's death, I only went out of town a couple of times a month and never needed the gas engine. About once a month I allow the charge to drop enough that the engine will run just to keep it active. My "mpg" currently shows 105 mpg... I love it... I use household current in my garage and my electric bill has not changed due to charging. I have not had to charge it while traveling... I was sad to hear that Honda is no longer making a plug-in Clarity. When I finally have to replace this one, I will be looking ONLY for a plug-in hybrid. I love the way it works. The only issue I have had is the battery... NOT the main battery, but the little one that make the gas engine run... I love my Clarity Plug-In... I doubt I would ever go back to a fully electric car and I would NEVER go back to a fully gas engine.

clarity honda a super car

It is a very economical and reliable car, the only problem is the inconvenience of all EVs....charging other than that, I am pleased that HONDA CLARITY should continue to manufacture their type of vehicle.

Great cars

I have owned a Clarity for over 4 years. I’m am 68 years old and have owned many cars over the years. All things considered this is the best car I’ve ever owned. I have owned numerous Mercedes and Lexus. Plug-in gives me plenty of daily range, while gas engine avoids range anxiety. Quality is excellent, NO warranty claims or issues. In 2019 this was the biggest sedan Honda ever built. Cabin is large, plenty of room in the back seat and trunk. Ride smooth and a bit cloud like. Very complex vehicle. Sometimes has a mind of its own. Example: the gas engine runs for a short time, even with a full battery. No one can explain it , but the on board computer knows to do it, just doesn’t tell you why. These are not performance cars. Acceleration is adequate and handling is more caddy then Porche. Touch screen is a bit quirky takes a while to get used to. If you find a 2020 with low miles buy it immediately

Don't buy this car

I own 2019 clarity. During summer battery charge around 50 miles and winter around 30 miles. This summer it is not going beyond 40. Don't know what happened. Recently had service done. While taking car to service the AC was fine and after it is done, AC stopped working. When I ask them they claim that it is not working when brought in. I wonder what they did during service. Hope this lower battery mileage is not because of their mess.

Honda Quality, Fit, Finish

I short listed my used car purchase to a Honda Clarity PHEV, Chevrolet Bolt and Tesla Model 3. We already own a Honda Accord, Honda Odyssey and Honda lawn mower, and we've enjoyed the Honda dependability. We go on longer trips about once a month, and I'd range anxiety and concerns over charging times if I had a pure EV. The 2018 Clarity PHEV drives like a luxury car - smooth, refined; I manually track my gas mileage and I'm averaging about 195 mpg over the past six weeks! I'll probably eventually buy a full EV, but until then, my Clarity will fit my needs well.

2018 Honda Clarity PHEV

Only thing I really don’t like about this car is that the lane assist does not use GPS in conjunction with the cameras to create a much more reliable experience. Everything else I love

Great around town

Love the quiet and performance when running on battery. Wish it had a bit more battery range, but it's great for most of my daily driving. I really notice when the engine kicks in...noisy and less pick up. Interior is roomy and comfy.

Excellent MPG without driving a freak’n Prius

Great car. About the size of an Accord. Comfortable, roomy, quick, handles great. Excellent fuel economy even on long highway trips. It’s a company car for a sales person. Not a Prius.

Love our infrequent gas fillups and room for frien

We are happy we waited for a serial hybrid that can be driven most of the time on pure electric power. We also wanted space for at least two friends in the rear seat and space in the trunk for when we travel together. We found it in the Clarity. The touring model has leather seats and backup camera and other safety features so the value seems good.
