Great little car

I have only owned this car for a month now, but so far so good. I was attracted to this car because I was looking for a smaller car with good MPG, and so far no higher than 28 which is a bit dissapointing. The inside is comfortable and the functions are easy to use, the iPod junction is great but it doesn't work with my iPhone which is upsetting but no big deal. The only real thing I have to complain about is it doesn't drive too well in the snow. Living in Minnesota we get a lot of it and for some reason I don't get much traction and the tires look good still. Maybe it is just an opperator error but it is something to consider.

Love it

This is the 3rd Hyundai I've owned and the 2nd Elantra. It is the most dependable and low maintenance car I have ever owned. I recently traded a 2008 Accent for the 2009 Elantra only because it had a manual transmission and I prefer an automatic. It is comfortable on long trips and gets great mileage. I expect to trade this one for another Hyundai when the time comes. They are a great value for the price and hold up well.

Almost 2 weeks wil our 2009 GLS

Actually went to the dealer looking for a used car but we test drove this car and were really impressed. The gas mileage is outstanding as well as the trunk space. XM satellite radio is cool as well as the Ipod interface (must puchase the cable from the dealer). All and all it's a great car!!!!

Great Little Car

I purchased a Elantra SE. I have owned it for approx 6 months now. The only problem I have had is when the dealer installed the sun roof wind deflector they cracked it at one of the mounting screws. They replaced it in 3 days.I use it on the highway approx 70% of the time. The trip computer says that in the 21,000 miles I have driven I have averaged 30.6 MPG.The Leather seats are very comfortable. The car fits a 6'4" driver well. The air works good.

Comfortable Compact Car

The Elantra SE is a great car. It is wisher quiet at a stop sign and rides very smooth for a car of its size. It is the roomiest "small" car I have ever been in. I average 33 mpg. The worst I have ever had was 27 mpg in winter and best was 39 mpg on a long trip. The driving experience is good, it's not a sports car, but I have never not had enough pep. It is a wonderful value, great construction, good interior design and thousands less than a civic or corolla. Overall I have loved this car and would recommend it to anyone.

Decent - not perfect

Bought a 2009 Elantra SE automatic and so far, so good. I definitely got more features and more room than a comparable Toyota, Honda, or Nissan (I've owned at least one of each of these; all good cars) for less money. Having said that, time will tell if it was the right purchase. Car rides very well for it's size, and handles OK. Haven't had to assess the stability control or brake assist features yet, but am confident they will help in an emergency situation. The 4 cylinder is little "thrashy" when you get on it, but normal driving isn't an issue. Transmission seems to hit shifts as it should and seems smooth enough. I'm certain MPG is dependent on your style of driving, but I'm pretty average I'd guess. I get about 35 MPG on the expressway (70 MPH) and around 29 MPG around town, not too bad. Fit and finish inside is actually very good. Seats(cloth)are OK for me, but the upholstry cloth seems a little fragile. We'll see. I dearly miss the outside temperature readout, should have been included. Decent trunk and fold-down seats area plus. Rear seat space is bigger than you expect. OK(XM)radio with 6 speakers plus CD is very adequate if not outstanding. Air, defrost, and ventilation all work as they should. Controls are straight forward and easy to use. Blue dash illumination is sorta cool. Outside, the car is attractive enough, and body panels fit well. I 'm not sure they ever do any good, but noticably missing is the vinyl strip down the side that protects your car from other car doors in the parking lot. Lights do their job with good hi-beams. All in all, a very pleasent small car that should be a good buy if it holds up well. If not, you always have the 60,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty, and 100,000 on the drive train. Keep in mind, this is a very inexpensive car. Obviously, there are better cars out there, but they cost significantly more. I think these cars are worth looking at.

Smoke and Mirrors

To be honest I really tried to like this car but after 5 months of ownership I dumped it. Interior is ergonomic and looks nice but is full of hard cheap plastic that rattles and scratches very easily. A few check engine lights for loose hoses and an electric window regulator fell apart. Upholstery is dated and does not wear well, engine is very buzzy a high RPM. Most disappointing were the POOR iihs crash test scores for side impact. Nice try Hyundai...
