Incredible Driving Experience

Outstanding vehicle with plenty of power from the V8 Hemi. Lots of fun to drive on and off pavement. Loaded with convenience features but still as capable as a Jeep should be when you hit the dirt. 3rd row seating was excellent for loading up the kids and their friends.

Picked it up cheap, now my favorite

Found a ?09 Commander for use as a tow vehicle for my boat with 150k miles. 5.7 Hemi. I?ve owned Grand Cherokee?s, Rubicon?s, BMW?s, Infiniti?s, and way too many other cars. If I?m writing a review, it means something. Even with all of the issues that have been mentioned (power turning off, etc.) this is almost becoming my daily driver. Who would have thought? I love this car and wish they hadn?t discontinued it. I would buy the 2018 version in a heartbeat.

I'm a Jeep guy now... Who knew?

I had always wanted a Commander since seeing it on 2006. Now that I have the '09 model, it was definitely worth the wait. I'm not going to give you a super "CAR GUY" review--I'm just not that guy. I WILL give you a regular "guy that needs a running car" review... This Jeep is awesome. It's big enough to make you feel mean on the street, but not too big where you start looking like a xxxxxx. I love the design of it. I hate this "sporty" crap car manufacturers are moving towards these days. The inside is weirdly spacious too. As soon as you get in, you feel like you're sitting up high even though the truck isn't extremely tall. The seats are comfortable as heck. The windshield gives you a lot of viewing angles, but the visors can definitely become a nuisance. They're trash. I opted for the sport which doesn't have the third row. Honestly, if you don't have children, there's no need for it. Adults can't fit back there comfortably anyway. That gave me TONS of trunk space. The engine is good enough for me. It's a 3.7L V6. I'm not dragging on the highway so it's a winner in my book. The sound system is great(crisp and clear). If you like Jeeps, buy it. It's that simple. I used to be Ford fan boy.... until mine broke down(Ford Explorer XLT). I never thought I'd actually own a Jeep, and now that I do, my heart belongs to them.

Loving it so far

I have had this vehicle for only a few weeks and love everything about it. It?s a 2009 with only 90k miles and it was extremely well taken care of. I didn?t break the bank purchasing it and now I get to upgrade things that I wouldn?t be able to with a more expensive newer car like a lift kit. Mine is the limited 5.7 hemi which is what I was looking for. It runs great and hope to have it for a very long time!

Fell in love

Test drove this car and I wish I could have gotten it. I absolutely loved everything about it. It drove very smooth & was quite quiet for such a huge car.

this WAS my Dream Car

Ever since the Commander came out, I was in LOVE with the boxy style and the exterior lines, I found a used Commander with about 22,000 miles on it at my local dealership, test drove it, LOVED IT, bought it. I was sooo dissapointed in this vehicle. I had a late 90's Cherokee that you couldn't KILL, the Commander definitely was made from a different mold. The vehicle would just "turn off" as I was driving, sometimes on the highway, sometimes in a parking lot, sometimes at an intersection. It would just totally shut off. Of course I could never recreate it for the dealership mechanic... but after extensive researching online I found this happened to a bunch of people. Never found out what the problem was. The car was very comfortable, great head and leg room, loved the dashboard, loved the stereo, all the equipment etc... but the A/C went out twice, and the dang thing would just shut off, I probably will never buy another Jeep.

Too bad, it was bought over the Internet

As soon as I found out about this Jeep, I went to the dealer not 7 miles away. The Jeep was still in the shop for the so-called pre sale inspection. The sales man showed it to me, but said he has heard it was already purchased. We checked and 2 hours before a guy in CO bought it. Never saw the vehicle and was gong to have it shipped from AL to CO. It was a local Jeep in great shape.
