Standard and reliable
Par for the course and you get a car that can go the distance with regular maintenance needs. But the I6 is never a problem.

2002 jgc laredo
Common issues include leaking fluids, bad radiators, bad pumps, and bad batterys. I purchased one for $1,200 and put about $3k worth of work into it before it started having transmission related issues. Keep in mind it bluebooks for about 3,200 in fair condition so i knew it would need work.

Really "want" to like it, but...
Whew... ok. In the 5 years I've had this, I've replaced 1 transmission, 2 front sets of calipers and rotors (because they flat out wouldn't let go!), ALL the front steering linkage, 1 alternator, 1 rusted out brake line, 2 rear u-joints, the "broken to pieces" driver seat base, and the weight that fell off the rear drive shaft. TO BE FAIR, I do like this vehicle. I expect issues with 175k. The motor is solid and smooth. However... I'm always chasing a phantom vibration, from someplace new, trying to keep it in a straight line, (yes, it's been lined up,) and saving for the next $1000 + repair. This is not the only one I've ever driven either, and they've all acted very similar. None were modified, and all were in reasonable shape. And yet everyone of them handled like a drunk pig on stilts! The last time I'd gotten under it, and had someone turning the wheel, I shuddered to see nearly the entire front end sloppily shifting around! Yeah, it's got some miles, but holy cow! I've had plenty other 4x4's that never jangled like that. Paid $1500 for it 5 years ago, and probably rebought 3 times. Maybe I'm gullible, but I'll keep working with it 'till I get some of this figured out. But if YOU aren't exactly "mechanically inclined," you may want to think twice. I have NEVER beat this thing, or even off roaded it for that matter. But it's got all the signs of being built to a budget... a very small budget. And I've not even mentioned the stack of Recall notices that came with this from Mopar. You've been warned.

RIP Jeep, we will miss you
This vehicle was the first car my parents bought (365hp v8 limited) and it was spectacular! It drove very nicely with it just being there for you if you put your foot down. it was not an offroad car like jeep tells you, its a luxury suv car. However its natural habitat was the gas station being there every other day. it had one of the most comfortable steering wheels ever ( original stock one). ours had problems though. first the rear axle went, then the steering was having problems turning. we upgraded the air intake to blow air directly into the engine and give it more horsepower (kind of like a supercharger) but one day the engine blew, so we replaced it. But in dec. 2014 when dad was driving it home, the transmission went and the engine blew a cylinder. sigh, that engine didn't last long. I was so close to driving it (i'm gonna get my licence soon) but no dice. we grew up together. RIP jeep my friend. I will never forget you.

Couldn't be Happier!
This car is amazingly comfortable, has plenty of get up and go, smooth ride, feels safe, stable, I will say I've only driven it 6,000 miles, had to replace the drivers side window regulator but after watching a you tube video on how to do it, it was a piece of cake. I'm telling you all this because I get it back from the body shop tomorrow.. A delivery truck rolled into it in a parking lot. I'll know more after I've driven it, but before,...... everything was great!

What a Gem of a Purchase
Well maintained by prior owners. Only a few minor age-related things to address. But, none of which affect the drivability of the vehilce or operation. I have checked it over very well, and tested it in city and highway driving conditions - in nice and snowy weather - and have not found anything wrong at all! It has an awesome ride/feel. Overall, I am very pleased and very impressed.

JGC 2002 Overland
I replaced two window motors, a noisy muffler, after market radio and two tire pressure sensors. All for about $1400. The burnt out seat warmer and moon roof motor was not replaced for a cost of $1000. The front plate was missing so that cost extra for new plates. I recommend buying from a car dealership rather than a used car dealer if you don't want to have all the extra expenses.

and Suddenly........ I'm a Jeep girl
I just upgraded from a 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, to the 2002 model. She's such a SWEET ride. Like falling in love all over again. Her body is great, her interior is perfect and only 59 K miles. She's amazing. Passing the 95 Grand Cherokee down to my oldest grandson whose pulling straight A's :))
