a true
I have got 11,000 miles on an 08 4 door Sahara bought with both hard and soft tops. With the seat down, it has the room of a grand cherokee. The JKs are 4" winder, so they handle much better the prior models, along with included 4wheel traction control, anti skid, ac etc. Tows great. It is a real suv and not some leather seated poser. Only complaint is the 3.8 v6 is down on power and the milage blows chow. A base will get you 4wd convertible for 21 grand. Nothing touchs that price.

Traded my Grand Cherokee for 4-dr Sahara
Fun, drives good not great and a little noisy, but that has to be expected. The hard top is easy and quick to remove. The stereo is better than could imagine. I drive a lot for my job and the gas is better than i thought. Both friends and I were skeptical when I bought it, now people love this car. Can't wait until winter to have fun with the snow.

So Much Fun
I have owned an '08 Wrangler for 4 months now and love everything about it. Everyone complains about the highway driving but I cruise the highway in this bad boy all the time and love it. The only thing I dont like is that it only has 202 horsepower. Man if a v-8 was an option I'd be completely satisfied.

Wrangler Sahara, my first
I have wanted a Wrangler for quite a while and purchased this model in October. I got the tow package and the power package. I have enjoyed driving this SUV thus far and I am really looking forward to the warmer weather.

Wrangler X 2008 Excellent vehicle my second.
Wrangler continues to be a affordable American icon. 4x4 ability has improved. The v-6 provides stable power as opposed to the straight six which has more torque off the line. I really enjoy mine. Plenty of good power. I have the automatic transmission. Compared to my 1992 model this one is finally a real Jeep Wrangler transmission for off roading. The old one was a cobbled setup compared to the four speed unit they have know. The styling is utility minded with all the latest features of composite material molding technology. In other words do not be afraid of the plastic and rubber. It is a great thing. Both inside and out. The stability of the ride has greatly improved. Way to go Chrysler. Move on up the mountain!

Best Wrangler Yet
I've owned several Jeeps over the last two decades and the 2008 model is hands down the best incarnation yet. My last Wrangler was an '04 Rubicon and the '08 is a vast improvement. The new V6 is smooth and seems to have enough horsepower to get the job done. The interior is more pleasing and user friendly. The wider body equals more space between the front seats and a little more leg room up front. I opted for the 7 speaker stereo with subwoofer, Sirius radio and 6 disc in-dash CD. Although no match for the Bose designed system in my Tahoe, it is a dramatic improvement over previous years. The ride is much, much better than in previous years. It is more civilized around town but still supple off road, like all Jeeps. Like all short wheelbase vehicles the ride can be choppy, especially on rough terrain, but thats to be expected. The exterior appearance is stunning to a Jeep fan like me. Some of the dealers seem to be offering add on packages including larger rims and tires and modest lift kits and I opted for these. This vehicle is a head turner. One of the main reasons I upgraded from my '04 Wrangler was the safety improvements found on the '08. I now have front side airbags (optional), computer controlled rollover mitigation, a wider track and higher rear seat backs which are much safer for my preschool age kids. They claim a 5 star front end collision rating (I don't think I want to know what the side collision rating would be). Finally, like all Wranglers, its just plain fun to drive. It makes even mundane around town driving feel like an adventure. I've owned lots of vehicles, but I always seem to eventually end up in a Jeep. I give the '08 Wrangler an enthusiastic thumbs up!

Pleasant Surprise
I finally gave into my desire to own a Wrangler rather than purchase another car or truck that I deemed to be more practical or a better value. I had purchased a Volvo S40 ten months earlier and while I loved the car, I couldn't help feeling like I had made a mistake. So, despite having a new baby to tote around, I traded in the Volvo for a 2008 Wrangler X and I couldn't be happier. I had driven a friend's '04 Wrangler Sport so I fully expected the 2008 model to be just as rough. Not even close - the 2008 model is much smoother, quieter and handles better. It's also larger and has a V-6 engine with more horsepower than previous models (prior to '07). I chose Detinator Yellow and added the 17" wheels. The Sunrider top allows me to open only half the roof in only a minute or two rather than having to put down the entire top all the time. Appearance wise, this is a beautiful Jeep. Getting the baby's car seat in and out is a little tricky. Even though the front seats fold forward to allow access to the rear seats, a car seat will not fit between the front seats (from either side) and the door frame. I have to recline the passenger seat to place put the carrier in a base anchored behind the driver seat. If we have a second child, I'll have to trade the two-door model in for a four-door. (...and yes, the top is up and the side windows are on when the baby is with me). So far, I could not be happier with my purchase. It seems that my years of waiting for the right time to purchase a Wrangler paid off. However, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the problems with the '07 model don't show up in this one. When the baby is old enough we'll resume our hiking and camping activities and then I'll take the Wrangler off road, but for now it will have to serve as my primary street vehicle which is just fine with me.
