dont buy this!

I bought this car used last June. This August, the engine blew driving down the freeway! I loved the styling of the car, and it fit my size well, but the cost of upkeep is just too high for the low quality Ford parts (yep, thats right, Ford, no more quality British parts). Buy this car only if you have a shop next door and another car to drive when it fails.

Fun to drive - looks great too!!

I've had my Freelander for 4 years and love it. It has been dependable and handles really well on treacherous roads in the winter months.

Great Car For The Money

With the introduction of the new LR2, the Freelander has become the best deal available for those in the market for a Land Rover. This compact SUV gets good mileage and looks fantastic. I have owned my freelander for over a year now and have had no major problems.

Great if you like lemons!

I was happy and loved my Land Rover for the for the first 5 years and original warranty. Now I am on an extended warranty and have been back to the dealer 3 times in 3 months for overheating and had to pay 3 separate deductibles because it was a different part each time (coolant reservoir, head gaskets, and thermostat). Also, needed to replace the transmission which I had to wait for 1 month for a rebuilt one to arrive.

Never, Ever buy this car, stay away from it!

I am the second owner, my brother was the first. I heard bad things, but never thought that a company would sell such an unreliable vehicle, and not even acknowledge via recall the inherent problems with this particular model. Dealership tells me they made big mistakes when producing this car for America, the engine and transmission being the source of many problems. It has always overheated, required a new heater core and intake manifold gasket. Thermostat was replaced and it still overheats. I own it for two years and dump more than 4,000 into it. Now the transmission is blown with no warning at 98,000 miles. Dealer tells me to put a new one in, because the used ones will only have the same failure problems, but the new one has been corrected. Sounds like another recall avoided on the back of the owners. $4,300 for a new transmission. I sold it with a blown transmission. I will never purchase a Land Rover product again, period. You should consider this your warning.

LEAST RELIABLE CAR I'VE OWNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I HAVE HAD MY FREELANDER LAND ROVER ABOUT 8 MONTHS. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE SHOP AND THEY SAID THE INTAKE MANIFOLD WAS CRACKED. MY MECHANIC CALLED THE DEALER TO ORDER A NEW ONE AND THEY (THE DEALER) SAID "YEAH IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME". TOO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT I REPLACED THE INTAKE AND MY CAR IS STILL IN THE SHOP W/ MANY PROBLEMS!

Least Reliable Car I have Owned

I babied my Freelander for 55000 miles. Not a scratch. Never replaced rotors & replaced pads only once. Loved the handling & snow traction (800 miles from TN to DC & back in 8 inches). No problems until transmission started slipping at 45000. It was replaced under warranty. Engine made noise when I picked it up at Dealer. Noise continued in cold weather at startup. Dealer said "not to worry". In August noise started & engine disintegrated at 55000 miles. Land Rover said it was my fault & out of warranty.

BEST CAR WE'VE EVER HAD

I wrote a review on this type car not to long ago but I've never seen it. The only reviews I ever see are the bad ones. Well we're here to tell you that this is the best car we've ever purchased. It's comfortable, easy to drive and I love the apperance. It handles very good and its not as big as some of the other gas hog SUV's that I've seen out there. I would gladly refer this car to any of our friends. WE LOVE THE LAND ROVER FREELANDER TYPE S
