There Should Be More Cars Like This!
My 4-star Comfort rating is because of my 70 yr age and 76 inch body, not because of the car itself. I wanted a van smaller than my previous one to run around town in and easily get our 2 little grandkids in and out of at the pizza joint parking lot. In other words I wanted a small car with sliding doors. This is the only car that met those wants. It's steering wheel and driver's seat adjustments make it very comfortable. I can flex my body enough to get in and out easy enough [wish I had leather seats though] and there is more than enough headroom, even with the sunroof. The ride is very good, the visibility is great, its performance is sufficient for working in Dallas traffic, it's very quiet on the hiway and its steering wheel radio/cruise controls are really handy. Size wise it was able to carry home 2 new folded in half foam bunk bed mattresses with both middle row seats up and in their rearward position. Four power windows is great, and the 2 heights when open rear hatch is good for my short wife and also me to stand under and then easily close. Loading groceries under the hatch in the rain was a real treat for her as compared to loading her previous 4-door sedan that had a trunk lid. I was and am very favorably impressed with all the nice features it has considering its relatively low price, and that includes the spare tire being inside under the floor and the rear seats folding into the floor, and the automatic fan speed/temp control of the a/c. It has less than 2000 miles on it so I can't comment on its ability to stay together ... I have great expectations, however and nothing has failed to date. My great amazement is that more of these are not sold to moms in the U.S. I can't believe any woman would want to fight getting kids/stuff in and out of hinged rear doors in a parking lot rather than having sliders ... every van salesman should make that part of his demo. My suggestions for improvements would include the addition of automatic on/off headlights and optional leather for the middle model.

Best Value for a Family Car
"This is the second Mazda 5 we have owned. We leased the first in 2008 to see if we liked it, we liked it so much we traded it in and purchased a 2010, same color, make and model. With a young family and a short wife this car was made for her. She can get the kids in and out of the car very quickly becuase of how low to the ground the car is, as well as the rear sliding doors. We upgraded to include the navigation, DVD, and the best of all amenities, the auto start. My wife loves it, living in Texas, it is really hot, we do not currently have a garage, so starting the car inside of our kitchen and then going out to a cool car is great!" I would recomned this car to everyone, you can't beat the price for a six seater in this price range with leather and all the bells and whistles. Zoom Zoom"

Great Car
Overall good value for a crossover. It runs like a car but seating is for six and looks like a smaller min-van. Gets great gas mileage and has plenty of storage. I have put 5 adults with one in the way back and had plenty of leg room. So far I love this car.

Cool Little Family Hauler
My dear husband bought me a 2010 Mazda 5 only two weeks ago. While it certainly isn't the coolest looking car, nor the quickest, it was obviously the smartest car for our family. We traded a 2003 VW Passat wagon which drove beautifully, but which cost a lot of money to repair. I considered buying a 2010 VW tdi Golf, but we were so cramped in that thing, even if it was a blast to drive. I also test drove a Nissan Cube which was fun, but not a very serious car, and a Honda Fit, which is as clever a car as the Mazda 5, but not nearly as well suited to family hauling. The Mazda 5 is not a race ready car, which is forcing me to relearn how to drive gently. For example, jack rabbit starts and last minute breaking are not really possible or a good idea. My 9 and 12 year old kids really love this car, and that is mainly why I picked it. They have so much leg room, head room and best of all DO NOT HAVE TO TOUCH EACH OTHER! They each get a captain's chair with their own armrests. While the car didn't take my breath away, it is growing on me. And it really is cute. I got the red one, and to me it looks like an inflated version of the Honda Fit, which I think is a really cute car too. One more thing I like, it takes regular gas. Our Passat only took premium fuel. My friends have been impressed with my new car, and I am glad I chose it. By the way, we have the Grand Touring with leather seats, which are really comfortable.

Fun To Drive
I love my Mazda5 Grand Touring. It has all the extras of cars costing thousands more. It is fun to drive. Could use a few more cup holders but the number is adequate. I bought the Copper Red Hue and it just sparkles in the sun. You will love the second row under seat storage. The vehicle looks like a slightly smaller mini van but with sporty options such as the spoiler. Heated seats, heated mirrors, 6 CD Player, Bluetooth on the steering wheel as well as vol. and mode control. Also love the back window windshield wiper and the front wipers have a sensor that starts them when it rains. Mine also has climate control so what more can a person need?

Spectacular Value & MPG for 6-seater
I was so geeked to find this automobile. I got the basic sport trim package in a manual transmission and I feel guilty driving such a fun car while carrying around five people (besides myself). The cargo space with all six seats up is minimal, but since I'm only in need of extra seating occasionally, I very much enjoy the extra cargo room (with the rear two seats folded down). There was nothing else (especially in a manual transmission) that seated more than 5 and was in our price range. Plus the safety is top notch and the MPG is ridiculous! My kids are way easier to get into their car seats compared to my four door sedan. I'm stoked and telling my friends.

THE Perfect Car for a Young Family
My wife and I have an 8 month old child and often haul around kids from our church as well. We began to realize that we needed a mini-van but we didn't really WANT a mini-van. That's when we found the "mini" mini-van...the Mazda5. We had never seen this car before but it is absolutely perfect for a family with 2-4 young children. The car seat fits perfectly and the adjustable, sliding, fold-able 2nd and 3rd row seats make the 5 extremely versatile for a variety of seating/towing arrangements. The Mazda5 is really the only car of its kind on the market and once you drive one and feel how great it handles (and don't worry about the 4-cylinder...it has plenty of pep) and rides you will be convinced that this is the best car, for the money, on the market for young families.
