Performance bargain of the decade!

I just bought an '08 model Speed 3, and it is a truly fabulous car! As a performance enthusiast, I have owned a few cars and driven quite a few more, and this is honestly one of the nicest cars I have driven on a daily basis. Although I am still young, I am extremely particular about many aspects my cars, and about the driving experience, and the Speed 3 performs like a true sports car but still costs thousands of dollars less. Performance - This car is completely fast enough for everyday, and will scare most drivers into backing off before it decides to let go, period (coming from a driver who has spent the majority of his youth, and his money, at the track)! The ride is a liitle stiff, but is to be expected and benefits the car anyway, so is not unbearable. I love the looks this car gets, not because it is the greatest looking car on the planet, but because the looks speak to a sense of confusion more than anything (Why/how is that Mazda 3 going so bloody FAST?!)! Car has relatively minimal turbo lag, and the LSD, DSC, Traction Control, and torque mgmt software do simply amazing things to keep this FWD monster in check if you may have a heavier right hoof than most! If you are looking for a $25000-$30000 "Porsche" than you can put all your stuff in the back of, this is THE Car! Truly Great machine. Don't know what else to say other than, buy one before Mazda stops selling them!

Overall Great Car

I love this vehicle! its quick, Awesome handling, and overall an amazing ride. really good on Gas (considering its a sporty car I get 25-27 MPG with a good mix of 50/50 highway/city ). does nicely on long trips for both comfort and room. If you get in one you will be really suprised how big it is inside considering it looks about the size of a matchbox. I've had the car for about a year and still love to drive it. If you want a sporty car that still has some practicality this is the car for you!

FASTEST FWD Car on the Market

Pros: FAST, good gas mileage (when cruising), many features found on more expensive cars, practical bodystyle, great overall performance Cons: Shifter is notchy, Clutch is touchy, gas mileage (when the turbo kicks in), paint is very thin For 25k, it's hard to find another car that is faster or has a better overall package than the Mazdaspeed3. The interior is great, with a 6cd changer and Bose stereo system. Seats are perfect. Outisde, it looks like a sleeper. Only car enthusiasts can tell between the Mazdaspeed3 and the Mazda 3s. The storage capacity is huge with the back seats folded down. I can fit 2 guitar cases and a huge guitar amp easily. Performance: The turbo on this car defines the vehicle. Give the throttle a push, and the turbo spools up. In first and second gear the boost can easily break the front tires free. Some people don't like this kind of understeer, but its very addicting. The biggest complaint I have is the transmission. It can be difficult to drive smoothly if you want to go at a usual pace. When the turbo kicks in you have to be careful unless you want your passengers to get sick while you shift through the gears. The ride is a little bit stiff at times. It hates speed bumps. But it can get fun when carving twisties. Get the Grand Touring version. Better stereo and really nice HID lights. There are more features, but my favorite is the computer that shows average mileage, instant mileage, average speed, and remaining miles.

Every drive is exciting

The car is amazing. My car had some problems after couple of months. It felt like it lost power and each shift gagged the car. We to the dealership and they fixed that problem. Since then, it has been great and back to normal.

Nobody knows what you've got!!

I've had my Mazdaspeed 3 for 3 months - I bought a Sport model used with 2500 miles on it for less than $20k. The turbo lag is minimal, and when you get the engine in the sweet spot - watch out! It's fun at night to watch the posers get left behind at the first light. When they pull even with you at the next one, they really give the car the once over! Speed shifting between 2nd and 3rd can be rough at times, but handling is top notch. If you can find one, buy it! You won't be disappointed.

Hard to beat

There is really only one slight drawback to the initial purchase of a Speed3. Upstate NY is not a good place for summer-only tires, and replacing them with all-seasons is pretty much mandatory. That said, the handling and performance are outstanding, and the car is a joy to drive. With the available features, the car is a real bargain.

My wife and I wanted a vehicle that was good on gas, fun to drive with a bit of kick. We are so happy with our new little speed3. It has unbelievable power and handelling and when the turbo kicks in, look out! Plus getting great gas milage. Helmets should be mandatory!!! Zoom zoom zoom
