I loved this car...

When it finally started to meet it's end I was so sad. This car served me well into it's 10th year of use. It was easy to drive and very convenient.

Great and safe vehicle

I owned a 2009 mariner and it was a great and safe vehicle. I hit a deer on the interstate going 70 mph and the vehicle took the hit with body damage only. Drove it for 400+ miles until the insurance company totaled it due to the amount of damage. Hated to see it go.

SAFETY! Reliable- solid and well constructed.

SAFTEY! Small FORD/MERCURY SUV's are known for reliability and safety. The quality and durability of the build is apparent in the smallest details. The fit and finish of the interior eveny after 90k on the odometer. Starting the engine to shifting into gear... the cars is solid.

One of the better cars I have owned

The Mariner is the Mercury version of the Ford Escape and certainly should not be overlooked if you are looking for a good relialble SUV. Our 2009 Mariner is two wheel drive and equipped with the new for this year 2.5 liter 4 cylinder engine coupled with the 6 speed automatic transmission. This combo is the only reason I even considered a 4 cylinder in an SUV because the performance and power are very good and still gets reasonable miles per gallon. Our premier edition has leather seats and nice, although I prefer the more comfortable in hot weather fabric seats. The interior quality leaves some to be desired as the driver's side visor hinge is broken, the inside door handle chrome is starting to buckle, paint is wearing of the driver's side door arm rest, and the lighter plug pulls out of the dash when you try to unplug your charger. Come on Ford you can do better than that. The ride is good for a smaller SUV and the handling is responsive. Interior room has more than adequate front and rear seat leg and head room and has ample storage behind the back seats. The rear hatch gives you the option of lifting the entire hatch or just the rear glass to r easy access to storage. Over all I would get another Mariner if they still made them as they seem more reasonably priced than the more popular Ford Escape and do the job as well or better.

Low Mileage Mariner

So far it's been a great car. We first looked at Ford Escapes but found the Mariners had more features for the money. We bought a 4cyl. model which is fine. The v-6 model had way more power, great for merging with traffic. The 4cyl. is very very quiet on the highway. It can be a little load during hard acceleration. I was able to add a Class II trailer hitch which required not drilling for about $130.00. I paid $16,500. with 26,000. miles.

One of the best values I've had

The Marriner is a very solid car with features that are easy to use. The interior is user friendly and the leather interior is a very nice quality. I'm enjoying it so much. I do quite a bit of driving and I never dread driving my Marriner.
