Do you buy a sports car for the trunk?
I have had every kind of vehicle over the years, and I could certainly afford a more expensive car, but, I am really surprised at the head snaps, and challenges from teenagers, friendliness from strangers, etc. that this car gets. This a stealth GREAT AMERICAN ROADSTER! Mine is aggressive red, the name of the paint job, and I would never have a red car before, but people seem to love it and it has grown on me as well, as has XM and OnStar which I would not have got had they not come with the car, now I wonder how we lived without them. I only have 1,670 miles on it in the first few weeks so I can't comment on reliability yet, but so far it is perfect. Comfort is not so great and road noise is high, but if I wanted a sleeper sofa I would have gone to LazyBoy and not Pontiac, and I can always drive to a quiet place, and have a ball on the way. In the first blushing week of fun I accidentally went by a CHP at 95 on a mountain road and he gave me a thumbs up because he knew I was 3 miles from the Oregon state line and he was never going to catch me this time (he was just handing a ticket to someone else anyway). It does not have the fit and finish of a Mercedes of course, but it also does not have the price tag or the weight of a Merc. And it is FAST! I had a 2000 Z28 convertible and it was fast, but this would take it. But fast is like other things I can think of, more than a mouthful is wasted, and no matter what car you own there will always be a faster one out there. So just plain FAST is good enough. I am not as comfortable in it as most would be, I am 6 feet and sit low, I am mostly legs. And it is true that visibility is poor, when the top is up, but not worse than most convertibles, and of course with the top down visibility is unlimited as is headroom. But like the title says you do not buy a car like this for a ride like a Towncar, or a trunk like a Cadillac, or for quite like a Bentley. It is what it is, a head turning roadster that should be far better advertised than it is, because I assure you if you can't make friends driving this car you must have facial herpes, and even then people will ask you about it even if it is from a few feet away. I can rate this car as highly as they come, it is flat out fun and cool.

What a GREAT ride!
The first time I saw this car I was in love with it. I didn't think I could get one because it would be my 5th vehicle and though money was not a problem my wife was bound to say NO! We are retired so early one morning I was telling her about this georgeous car and showed her pix on the net. She said"That is a hot car, let's go drive one". We went to the local dealer and drove the base auto and stick. The dealer was pushing for the GXP but I liked the base better. With the stick. This car reminded me of one of my precious 1960 Bug Eyed Austin Healy Spright. You need to drive this car and think ahead. You have to DRIVE this car and use the gearbox often to get this machine to perform. There in lies the FUN FACTOR! This car is not overpowered so you have to work for the performance. You don't need the turbo to throw this car around on the mountain roads here in Colorado. This is a FUN car and makes driving a pleasure. Don't think of it as a car to go get groceries or lumber-NO ROOM. This is a have fun, go fast, tossable sports car. You have to work to enjoy it and that is the fun part!! WHAT A CAR FROM DETROIT! And in "Mean Yellow" it gets noticed and commented on all the time!

My First Roadster
For the money, this car packs much bang for the buck. I was drawn to the Solstice by its very sleek styling but I was very surprised that I was able to fit in the driver's seat. I am a large person (6 ft., 330 lbs.) with a very long body. I have tried to drive many roadsters over the years and I have always been disappointed. I usually cannot close the door and I sit so tall that I look over the windshield. This is not the case with the Solstice, I feel very comfortable in both the driver and passenger seats in the Solstice. I opted for the GPX model for the improved power and fuel economy. I went with the standard transmission because why would anyone want anything else ? an automatic in a roadster just did not make sense. I have had my Solstice for just over two weeks now, but I am averaging over 30 mpg. With gas prices continuing to go up, it is a pleasant surprise that the Solstice gets better gas mileage than it is rated (19/28). Some people are concerned about the very small amount of trunk space, but keep in mind that this car is not intended to haul anything but . . . well you know!!

A Must Have
The 2008 Pontiac Soltice GXP will not disappoint. This car will turn heads with its sleek body style and 18 inch wheels. The convertable top is manual, but very easy to operate, with a quick turn of a lever. The Soltice also offers plenty of head room with the top up. Other features may include XM satelite radio, ON Star, and and outlet jack for your Ipod or MP3 player. As of today, the gas mileage is averaging about 23 miles per gallon, which is an average of both highway and local driving. The Soltice handles great on drv surfaces and the 260 horsepower makes a big difference, which comes standard on the GXP model. Though the trunk space is limited with the top down. overall, its a fun car to drive at a very affordable price. Take a test drive today.
