My first car

This car was the best. It was compact, tough, great on gas, and it was inexpensive. I still miss this car.

Rock Solid dependability

in over 200,000 miles there has never been even a hint that this car would not just start up and go like it always has. Great reliability. Zero dollars spent in 12 years on anything but maintenance and gas for this car.

284,000 miles and still reliable

This has been the most reliable vehicle we have ever owned. We bought new in 2005 and it is still driven daily at 284,000 miles. Only problems were the gears in rearend for AWD went out at 120,000 miles and then recall on the airbags. Otherwise nothing but normal maintainence. Moon and tune package was well worth the extra money. I don't know what i could get nowadays to replace it with that kind reliability.

Absolute best motor vehicle I have ever owned!!!

Purchased used in 2010 with 73K miles and now have 201k. Discovered after purchase that it was a rental car early on but doesn't matter for the quality of the vehicle. Vibe has needed no major repairs or had problems other than routine maintenance procedures/items including O2 sensor, spark plugs, mass air flow sensor, brakes and one rotor. I have changed the oil regularly and it does not burn oil between changes. Recently had mechanic check it over to see if it needed anything done and he said no. Struts and suspension are still good as well. Stereo display illumination has burned out so I am going to replace it but wanted to upgrade to something better for a long time anyway. Gas mileage is excellent - don't specifically keep track of it but know that it plus 30 mpg easily on highway. Not a particularly fast car but I value reliability and utility over speed. Love the cargo area and have hauled bikes/gear/stuff galore and even slept back there on camping trips. If I could repurchase the car again with 73K again I would definitely do it!!!! Shame that it stopped production.

I miss this car!! Loved owning it

I bought this car used at just under 100k miles. Unfortunately I was in an accident after two years, but despite the damage done to my car, the interior frame remained intact and did what it was supposed to do: save my life. I literally walked away with one bruise. I'm thankful and can attest to the safety of this vehicle. Other than that, I really loved owning this car. It was my plan to drive this car into the ground. In the two years I owned it, the only "issues" I experienced were needing new tires and brakes (inevitable) and strangely, one time during the winter, my windows (except for my drivers side) stopped working. I was in college though so I put off fixing that until I had more money set aside, then when the weather warmed back up a few months later, the issue resolved itself. I'm not sure what caused it or if that's common, but even so it wouldn't have been very expensive to repair. My favorite thing about this car was the folding split seats because the backs of them were covered by hard plastic, making it very easy to load things in and out. Even the mpg was good, I think I averaged about 26-28mpg, sometimes even averaging 30 mpg. I don't think there's anything really bad I can say about this car. The only things I would change are the radio (I installed a bluetooth/aux radio) and the roof rack (might be an issue since it doesn't span the whole length of the roof). I'm considering buying this car again, but I'd like to try owning something different for a while just for a change of scenery honestly.

Most reliable car

I purchased this car 7 years ago. The Pontiac Vibe is the twin to the Toyota Matrix, actually is a Toyota underneath it all. Little surprise there that it is a very reliable car. It never left me stranded and I never had any major repairs. When backseats are folded in the car provides very generous cargo space. We were able to fit in a regular size dishwasher, a wall oven, and a stove top.....all at the same time.....into the car. Bottom line is: this car is very reliable, decent on gas ( 21mpg in town; 28mpg highway), very spacious. I will never sell it, I love this Toyota Matrix twin!
