Most significant changes: Prices increase slightly on all trims without any additional content.

Pricing: The 2022 Crosstrek starts at $23,620. Prices increase from $325-$425, depending on the trim level. Part of that comes from the destination fee, which increases to $1,175, up $125 for 2022.

On sale: Now

Which Should You Buy, 2021 or 2022? Opt for a 2021 model if you can find one to take advantage of the slightly lower price.

Subaru’s smallest SUV was refreshed for 2021 with an updated face, a new engine and an additional trim level called Sport. For 2022, there are no changes to the Crosstrek except for a small price bump. The plug-in-hybrid model, called simply the Crosstrek Hybrid, also returns unchanged and sees a price increase.

Like last year, the 2022 Crosstrek is again available in Base, Premium, Sport and Limited trims. Subaru’s newly available 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, borrowed from the Legacy sedan and the Forester and Outback SUVs, comes on the Crosstrek’s Sport and Limited trim levels.

The other trims, Base and Premium, still have last year’s 2.0-liter four-cylinder. Both of these  trims again use a standard six-speed automatic; a continuously variable automatic transmission is available on those models and standard on all other trims. All-wheel drive is again standard on all trims.

The Crosstrek Hybrid also carries over for 2022, and it’s good for an EPA-estimated 17 miles of all-electric range on a full charge. It has a combined rating of 35 mpg thereafter and up to 90 mpg-equivalent.

2022 Crosstrek Pricing

Full pricing is below, followed by the price change for 2022. All prices include the destination fee, which increased $125:

  • Base trim with a six-speed manual transmission: $23,620 ($325 increase)
  • Base, CVT: $24,970 ($325)
  • Premium, six-speed manual: $24,770 ($425)
  • Premium, CVT: $26,120 ($425)
  • Sport, CVT: $27,970 ($425)
  • Limited: CVT: $29,470 ($425)
  • Hybrid: $36,820 ($425)

The Crosstrek Hybrid qualifies for up to $4,502 in federal tax credits, and certain states offer rebates beyond that. The 2022 Subaru Crosstrek and Crosstrek Hybrid are on sale now.

  • I bought a used 2022 CPO Crosstrek Limited with only 18K

I bought a used 2022 CPO Crosstrek Limited with only 18K miles. The car is super noisy, especially on highway. I can't listen to the music unless the volume is way up. I do not want to ruin my eardrums so no music on hgwy. Period. Won't keep this car for long!

  • Perfect vehicle

I personally love my 22 Crosstrac. I have the turbo engine and it has a lot of go to it. Very sturdy on the road at higher speeds. I have the Limited Edition with diamond sparkle black paint, black leather interior very sharp looking vehicle. There was a few hiccups in the beginning with a few minor leaks around the windshield which was promptly fix by the dealership. Gas mileage is great. If you have a family or intend on traveling a lot, the storage part is small other than that perfection all around.

  • overall a great commuter car

I have a 2022 Crosstrek Limited. I think it is overall a great commuter car with average 33MPG. However, I have two issues with this vehicle 1) Seat it took small & uncomfortable if you seat for a period of time and 2) Highway wind noise is pretty loud around 70 db at 65mph.

  • WORST CAR EVER!

Worst car, terrible gas mileage. Best I get on highway is 20mpg. Wish I never bought this car . Start stop tech feels like the car is falling apart everytime it starts. Ride is extremely rough. Not much room in back for traveling. Never been more disappointed with a car purchase and now I'm stuck with it.

  • 2022 Crosstrek Sport

Traded a Jeep Sport for a Crosstrek Sport and couldn’t be happier. On the first road trip of almost two thousand miles averaged 38 mpg at between 70-75 mph during the first six hours of driving. Performance was smooth with no issues. Very good vehicle. My 3rd Subaru and had 4 new Wranglers. Will stick with Subarus. Better build quality

  • Love my car

I traded a 2018 Crosstrek for the 2022 with the 2.5 engine. I loved the 2018, but the 2.5 takes things to a new level. Being a small car, the extra HP is noticeable. The safety features, including blind spot detection, rear cross traffic alerts, all wheel drive, and front Eyesight, make me feel very confident in the car. It corners great and has a good turn radius. It's too early to tell about the 2022, but since I had no reliability issues with the 2018, I expect this one to perform just as well.

  • The perfect car!

I have been waiting to buy a new car for years but kept putting it off. I had an Acura TL and absolutely hated it. It was too low to the ground and poor gas mileage. I found the Crosstrek at the dealership and ended up ordering it. It is the perfect car for me. Every upgrade and option is perfect, well thought out and functional. The color is perfect. The interior is awesome and is very easy to use... one of the easiest cars I have ever used. Almost considering buying a second one for my husband.

Crosstrek drives smooth, has great fuel economy, all-wheel drive, safe, and can carry the entire family's gear. Can't beat the price for what the vehicle offers.

  • Go ahead. Indulge a bit.

I couldn't recommend this car, this model more. We got a Crosstrek Premium with the extra Blindspot safety package that includes the power moon roof. It is the perfect size car for my wife and I, with all the safety and convenience tech we wanted. We have both loved this model for years and wanted to get one, and now that we have, we are super pleased. If you are hesitating, pull the trigger. You won't regret it.

  • Beyond impressive

First Subaru is everything plus a bag of chips. My Limited Crostrek is superb, surpass all expectations, a small SUV that does not perform small. From spacious and comfortable interior to the safety suit (EyeSight, reverse auto braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure, lane centering, and many other safety features which comply with their purpose without being intrusive or annoying). The braking or stopping power compares to any sports car it's unbelievable. One thing that is on every review is the unpleasant engine noise when the vehicle is taking off or it is pushing harder. The true is the noise is present and very noticeable but it's not a deal-breaker because it does not compromise the vehicle performance. And is very fun and pleasant off-road and the way it just glides over road imperfections and bumps. COmplete pack you won't regret it.
