Great car!

Bought a brand new 2023 Mazda CX 30 and really like the safety features that are standard features in this car. As an empty nester and retiree, the lane keep assist and lane warning are a welcome feature in this car. The lane warning and assist has an pleasant chime warning sound and the steering wheel vibrate warning the driver that he/she is deviating from the lane. With a little nudge of the steering wheel by the system get you back in your lane. Blind spot monitoring is also a great safety feature to let the driver know that a nearby car is on the nest lane, caution is suggested when changing lane. Cross traffic alert is also great, and it can even detect a person approaching the back side of your car when on reverse, of course it also detects a car approaching when reversing. The interior fit and finish is excellent, it makes the car feel and look like a luxury car without the price of a luxury car. This car is brand new, so I am still in the process of learning about the car. IMO, if you want to experience how the Mazda CX 30 is, get a test drive. You may like it or love it like I do. Good luck.

Best smaller size SUV on the market.

This is my baby! I absolutely love this car! It handles beautifully and very comfortable to ride in. I got the select because we wanted the 18” wheels. It has better braking capability. It also has a 2.5 - 4 engine. Radio is the only con because there is no antenna. But none of the new cars have one. Overall, this is the very best car for us and highly recommend it to anyone who prefers a smaller SUV.

2023 Mazda CX-30 review: Our expert's take

What Is the 2022 Mazda CX-30?

The Mazda CX-30 is a subcompact five-seat SUV with a choice of two four-cylinder engines and standard all-wheel drive on all trims. The base powertrain is a 191-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission. For added verve, there’s an optional turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder that makes 227 hp when running on regular gas or 250 hp on premium; it’s paired to the same transmission. The CX-30 has a sporty nature thanks to its highly accurate steering, strong brakes and taut suspension. The latter, though, might be a tad too firm for some SUV shoppers.

Direct competitors include the Chevrolet Trailblazer, Honda HR-V, Hyundai Kona and Subaru Crosstrek. According to Cars.com’s cargo measurements, the CX-30 offers 13.7 cubic feet of cargo space.

What’s New on the 2023 Mazda CX-30?

The base four-cylinder in the 2023 CX-30 receives a small bump in horsepower, from 186 to 191 hp, along with a 2 mpg increase in its EPA-estimated city and highway fuel economy ratings. Other than this mechanical update, the CX-30 is carried over essentially unchanged from the 2022 model year.

What Features in the 2023 Mazda CX-30 Are Most Important?

Standard features include:

  • 16-inch alloy wheels
  • LED headlights and taillights
  • Rain-sensing windshield wipers
  • Cloth upholstery
  • Wi-Fi hot spot (subscription required after data trial)
  • 8.8-inch multimedia screen
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity
  • Forward collision warning
  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Adaptive cruise control with stop and go capability
  • Lane departure steering assist
  • Automatic high-beam headlights

Available features include:

  • 18-inch alloy wheels
  • Power moonroof
  • Power liftgate
  • Leather upholstery
  • Heated front seats
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Dual-zone automatic climate control
  • Navigation
  • Satellite radio
  • Bose premium stereo
  • 360-degree camera system
  • Blind spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert
  • Rear automatic braking

Should I Buy the 2023 Mazda CX-30?

When it comes to driving enjoyment, there aren’t many small SUVs that provide the same degree of fun you’ll get from the CX-30. Its agility and size make it easy to park, too. Downsides include poor rear visibility, a cozy second row and an infotainment system that eschews a proper touchscreen for a quirky rotary knob controller on the center console. On the plus side, the quality of the cabin is excellent; it feels upscale.
